Onikage Posted May 2, 2011 Report Posted May 2, 2011 Those of you who are familiar with the AE92/3 and similar rolla's might know that the upper spec models come with central locking, which can be activated with a switch located to the right of the steering wheel (on RHD models at least) I recently purchased a AE93 SX, the central locking switch is there, however there is no actuator thing behind the switch. Can anyone give me some ideas about looking into how far my central locking system has been comprimsed, and what i'd need to do to get it all working again. PS: Sometimes using the snipper on the drivers door will lock/unlock that door and both rear doors, sometimes it only locks/unlocks the drivers door. The front passenger door can only be locked/unlocked with its own snipper. Quote
Guest Casey-G Posted May 2, 2011 Report Posted May 2, 2011 If the switch is there everything else should be, the plug might just not be plugged in if thats what your getting at? Another thing: Sometimes the clamps that attach the actuators to the rods in the doors will come loose, when the switch is flicked the loose sliders will sometimes grab but usually will just slide over the locking rods. All i did was pull my door cards off, unlocked the doors, and just put some small tacks on the clamps with the MIG, never had a problem since. HTH Quote
Onikage Posted May 3, 2011 Author Report Posted May 3, 2011 Another thing about the switch, it feels very floppy, as if there is nothing behind it, that's why i believe there is no actuator/or anything behind there (I haven't actually opened it up yet to have a look)It lacks the solid switch feel of the rear demister and rear wiper switches, which work fine. Is it the plug that is meant to give it its solid feel? Quote
jimmy-d Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Generally, the solid feel that you get from operating a switch is built in to the switch via a spring return or other such, the physical plug at the rear that connects the wiring harness to the switch should have NO affect on the feel or operation of the switch.I would say your switch is or just about is buggered. Guest Casey-G Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Yes it's supposed to be fairly rigid... Quote
