hey fellas, iv read up and people say to stay well away of the 18rg.. but i have come accross a complete, running celica with the 18rg or 18ru? twin cam twin carb etc etc for $500. and the old 4k isnt too healthy anymore, so it seems like the perfect oppourtunity to ditch the 4k for something better. has anyone here done this swap before?? will the celica x member bolt to the ke70? will there be any trans tunnel work? ANYY info would help alot. cheers! :)

given the 18rg is older than a ke70?

 

Fairly sure you can only put newer engines in as a replacement.

from this thread, it seems 18rg stuff is quite difficult to get, and not cheap.

 

i think its a case of its a old, heavy engine, that doesn't really make that much power....

 

i think there are much better options out there is all.

 

and having one already may not be a good enough reason to attempt to fit it....

 

maybe try and PM this bloke if you are hellbent on the idea.

Hey mate are you still doing the 18rg in to your ke70? I've done it to a couple of ke30's before it's not a hard convertion as long as your got access to a welder to make mounts . You'll need a corona sump and pickup . The top hose of your radiator will need to be moved to the other side or use a celica radiator or some thing like it'

You'll need to cut a hole for gear stick

A custom tail shaft , throttle cable, hydro clutch peddal . There's a few more thing but just what you'd expect , if your still doing it and you need info at all let me know and I'll try help cheers
