Hey,

 

Got a KE70 with a stock 4k-C and I was compression testing it, checking spark plugs, etc. It was starting to struggle to turn over, starter motor would just clunk, I thought the battery was going flat but then I hit the key and saw some HUGE sparks is there something wrong with the starter or it got to hot or something?

bad connections, possibly bad earth leads, current is trying to find an alternative path, hence the sparks when it is trying to jump a gap..

 

explains the sluggishness of the starter..
