demuire Posted November 26, 2005 Report Posted November 26, 2005 I've got a small port 4AGE (MAP sensor), and yesterday broke the alternator mounting bolt and so had no charge for a bit. Anyway, fixed that, and now the check engine light keeps coming up. It only comes up when I rev the engine above about 4000RPM (and then stays on until I kill the ignition again). I've reset the ECU, but it comes up again, so I guess there is something wrong. First of all, after resetting the ECU, the light blinks rapidly (like how it describes it in the 4AGE book as an AFM 4AGE). Umm... Why would it do this? Secondly, after getting the check engine light to come on, the diagnostic code says 5, 2. What on earth is 5, 2? There is no code like this in the 4AGE book... Quote
Super Jamie Posted November 26, 2005 Report Posted November 26, 2005 http://www.off-road.com/toyota/tech/codes/ five and two are listed here as general toyota codes 5 being oxygen sensor 2 being map/afm sensor you'll notice these are also called code 21 and code 31, which are in 4age book as the same thing yes? demuire Posted November 26, 2005 Author Report Posted November 26, 2005 (edited) Oh hey look that page has more codes than the 4AGE book. 52 is knock sensor. For some reason my engine is knocking above 4000RPM? Hmm. How to diagnose further??? Ah. Helps to have knock sensor plugged in :D Must have knocked it off when fixing alternator yesterday...
