philbey Posted August 23, 2011 Author Report Posted August 23, 2011 So I sorted out a wire transfer via Commonwealth Setback. Very simple, just like a regular transfer. Email came through overnight to confirm payment received and they just wanted to check order specifics and delivery address. Hopefully ship tomorrow. Quote
philbey Posted August 30, 2011 Author Report Posted August 30, 2011 UPDATE Tyres are in Australia according to Fedex. As of this morning they were en route to my house, but more than likely I get a calling card. Should have them in hand tomorrow. Quote
ke70dave Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 wow, that was quick. *browses to tirerack to pick new tyres* Quote
philbey Posted August 30, 2011 Author Report Posted August 30, 2011 yerp. Just got the email to say nobody was there to collect, I'll get them tomorrow. No word from customs so apparently all is well. Total cost so far 743 + 25 for the wire transfer. Bank exchange rate was just over parity at 1.001. Quote
irokin Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 What'd shipping end up setting you back? Quote
philbey Posted August 30, 2011 Author Report Posted August 30, 2011 Breakdown of prices was: Tires $500 (to use the vernacular) Shipping $243 Wire transfer $25 I think that for tyres that would cost you less than $750 locally, you wouldn't import, because the $250 rate to ship is going to be a major cost. philbey Posted September 1, 2011 Author Report Posted September 1, 2011 (edited) Tyres in hand. Wow. Very happy. They're nice and soft, and the tread detail is quite interesting. Plus they look sick! Pulled the fuchs off the 911 last night, I'll get the old tyres stripped and take the rims home for some polishing action and a new coat of satin black on the centres. Astute readers might notice the car in the background, with the door removed... Edited September 1, 2011 by philbey Quote
irokin Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Very nice :D I think I'll probably end up getting semis locally. The FZ-201s fit the bill for me (fast but hard wearing) and the price is pretty good too. Quote
