Willis Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 Yo. First up, listen to Skyharbor's debut album. Next up, no idea what the car is, T18, TE72 etc. Next up, if you've got the money, time, skills and resources to go 1UZ, then do it up, my friend. :D Quote
white_sandshoe Posted May 1, 2012 Report Posted May 1, 2012 Matt, i'm G-Nut. My collection of T18s stands at 4, soon to be 5, and I've owned, over the last 3 years, a total of 10 of these lovely things. If you need parts, a helping hand or any ideas on what's possible, let me know... My PB so far is a 14.3 (for something I built, not be driving... ) to see if we could crack 14s for under a grand. Oh, BTW, it's a TE72, badged in Australia as a T18. Common mods, depending on what you're looking for include 3TGTE from TT141 Corona or TA63 GT Celicas which gives 160hp and bolts in, AE86 suspension swaps across, with the exception of the rack, but there are ways to fit that too, and 4AGE isn't very hard to fit either, since it uses a T50 gearbox, and the engine crossmember is the same, except for the lack of rack and pinion. Mostly need the engine with bellhousing to suit. Other one that's pretty easy is either 2TG or 3T/2TG hybrid. There's a guy on here who has done the 1UZ into T18, and says it's excellent, and i completely believe that! hehe All comes down to what you're wanting from it, what you're using it for, and how much money/time/blood sweat and tears you're willing to put into it. PM me, and we can have a chat... Quote
KE20Rally Posted May 3, 2012 Report Posted May 3, 2012 If you decide to stay with the standard 3TC, there are alot of aftermarket parts available for these engines in the states, then all you need to do is decide upon turbo or naturaly asperated depending on how much power you would like, ~140 hp@ the wheels is obtainable in NA build, however if you want alot more turbo can put you around ~200hp ATW without too much fuss. As with most things car related, "how fast do you want to spend" I'm also in perth if you would like to discuss. Cheers Quote
corolla_feind Posted June 20, 2012 Report Posted June 20, 2012 Welcome! I'm actually completely new to Rollaclub too, and I couldn't find the "Introduce Yourself" thread, if there is one.. but I saw that you've got a Liftback, as I do, too and wanted to say that's pretty sweet. TE72's are where it's at. HEMI 4-banger, it's a nice bulletproof engine with a good amount of torque.. mines got a Weber 32-36 dual barrel progressive carb and MSD Blaster2 coil and Superconducter leads. works nice. Joined up to RollaClub to see if I could find info for a suspension build, but haven't gotten there yet :P Good luck on the build! keep the 3T-C, it'll treat you well! Quote
