This is my AE71

 

this is the car the day i got it, already 4AGED

 

i got 8 defects in my first 48 hours of driving it and decided to change some shit.

one of the main defects was rust. so i ground it back and this is the shit i found.

 

by the time i cut it out this is all the roof i had left in some places...

 

dad and i cut and fabricated some metal and i had a go at my first real bit of welding with a mig welder. getting the settings right for such thin metal was a pain, but once it was dialed right it was basically point and shoot :)

 

once the rust and stuff had been cut out it was time to be get the spray putty on and primer.

 

the next difficult thing was to choose a colour. it was a toss up between a gun metal grey or an xr6 purple.

just a little colour tester :)

 

i swapped my 15x9 shakatons for some 15x7's 3 piece wheels (not sure of what type :/) and some cash my way

 

the first weekend we rolled out from under the tarp :)

ive got some other plans for the car. i want to get a chin spolier, some 15x8 wheels, maybe meshies or somethng similar to watanabes. and just whatever i can do to try and make it unique

Ive seen a lot of rusty corolla's but damn, awesome work on the resurrection.

just my opinion but ..... lose the roof racks (unless you plan to use them, lose the stickers (unless you are in primary school, as they look like shit) and you will have a good looking rolla that will turn heads or the right reason and good choice on putting a better sized rim on your cool rolla (as far as i am concerned 9" is toooo wide for a rolla unless it is tubbed with drag slicks)

roof racks are definitely staying and I'm adding a roof basket. still unsure about the stickerbomb but

i want to convert it to electronic ignition but don't know enough about it. has anyone done this before and can anyone please give me some tips?
