Gday, I've got an 82 liteace, with a 4k in it. the 4k is shagged, and i want something better as i live in a hilly area and carry a fair load with it. i had a 1y powered hilux thrown at me the other day and the engine and box (colum 4 speed like the van) are in really good nick.

 

So what I'm askin, is do people do Y into K series cars? I can't find any info on these swaps. Any info would be appreciated :)

PM rob83ke70 and ask him. He fitted a Y (I think its a 3Y) to his Dyna, but I can't remember what it replaced.

 

Why not a 7K motor? easy swap... I suppose if you have the 1Y its worth using.

Yea thats it, I was looking for a 7k but this just landed in my driveway the other day lol. If its going to be too much pissin around I'll keep lookin

With you're km20 Liteace maybe you can drop in a 5k 1.5 motor from a km36 Liteace.

I've got a 1989 ym35 Liteace with a 2y motor and performs really well besides from a flat spot on the carby.

 

You may need to convert to hydro clutch and modify the engine and gearbox mounts for the y series driveline... Lots of work! Sell the ute and use the proceeds on a 5 or 7k install.
