styler
When changing to reground cams and also facing the head, what options are there with pushrods? Seems on regrinds that the base circle is reduced and so longer rods are needed, shaving the head shortens the required rod length... Have heard something about datsun a12 rods or machining down rocker towers to suit... Is there a preference with either of the above concerning geometry? Thoughts? styler
Else if cam blanks are available at a reasonable cost, that may be the go? Edited November 3, 2013 by styler
styler
Blanks seem scarce but looks like an abundance of pushrods in different lengths...
kickn5k
Else if cam blanks are available at a reasonable cost, that may be the go? billets haven't been available for close to 15 years. There should be more than enough adjustment in the rockers to take up the slack of what is taken off the base circle of the cam.
snot35
After skimming the head and doing the cam, shouldn't you be able to adjust the rest of it via the rocker tower heights? You'll need to bolt it all up and check out how the rocker wipes the top of the valve. You should then be able to fix it by either shaving or shimming the towers. styler
Yeah the swipe mark on top of the valve needs to be in the middle, looks like I will check it on assembly and take action to suit.
styler
Looks like you can get adjustable dummy pushrods to dial in the length, probably going to get one and go from there.
