gt500biatch Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 unsure if this goes in general mechanical. but anyway.. I'm just wondering what wheels fit on stock front guards ? I'm looking at getting 15x8 0 offset ... just wondering if they will fit fine and clear calipers etc... I'm getting 15x9 -10 on the rear but gna flare/get bolt on flares for the rear ... thanks :) Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 15x8 zero is a touch too wide for stock gaurds I think. Especially on the rear, you will need a bit of flare coverage to make it work. You may need 5 mm spacers on the front too. Quote
gt500biatch Posted January 26, 2014 Author Report Posted January 26, 2014 yeh I'm either pumping or getting bolt ons for the rear, but the rims i want to get only come in 15x8 zero and 15x9 -10... so i take it ill have to pump the fronts too ? Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 (edited) I have 15x8 +10 on the front and rear. Pretty much perfect though the front are chambered in, mainly because of the slight increase in track from the xt130 struts. The guards are stock with a rolled lip all round. Edit: photo fail, on my phone. Tyres are 195/50 also Edited January 26, 2014 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 Yes but the rears are a much harder if you don't want bolt ons, but with bot ons you can remove some material and reweld the wheel well steel to the body with a few tacks before you fit them to get clearance and keep it fairly strong. Depends how low you are, from memory it was pretty low. Quote
gt500biatch Posted January 26, 2014 Author Report Posted January 26, 2014 yeh i think my ride height is around 75-80mm... i will be running - camber on the front. and i am leaning towards bolt ons on the rear, but unsure whats what on the front in terms of clearance :/ :( Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 Yes thats about where you want to be. My car had 15x8 -8 fronts and -6 rears in this pic with 205 rubber, but it took a lot of flaring, plus 20mm a side maybe. Quote
gt500biatch Posted January 26, 2014 Author Report Posted January 26, 2014 nice, did you flare the fronts too ? Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 Terry did yes. A fair bit too. Quote
gt500biatch Posted January 26, 2014 Author Report Posted January 26, 2014 mmmk theres a bloke selling weld on guards for 150 they are 70mm to fit 15x10 -5 .. but I'm a noob when it comes to welding, as far as i can tell its alot of work cutting the current ones out (inner and outer) then re welding... is it a bitch for bolt ons aswell ? Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 The easy answer is get some wheels that fit. Otherwise theres work to be done, and the quality of the result will dramatically impact the quality of the car. Quote
gt500biatch Posted January 26, 2014 Author Report Posted January 26, 2014 haha i have wheels that fit, but not enough dish :( haha iv got money to spend, the thing is its overdue for a respray etc .. so i wanted to get this done before. i don't mind paying a lil extra to make her look better, I'm not gna spend cheap money and get a cheap job, one thing iv learnt is you get what you pay for. :) thanks for the input lads :) Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted January 26, 2014 Report Posted January 26, 2014 Yes its more about finding the right person with the right knowhow. I don't think Terry does it anymore. Quote
gt500biatch Posted January 26, 2014 Author Report Posted January 26, 2014 yeh iv emailed fat fitment i heard they do it. see what they say, my lil bro had some bloke from the coast come do his e30 beemer and did a mad job so ill see if he does it still, Quote
