Well this broke for me can i just block it off and take anything to do with it off? honestly don't even know what it is, first 4k motor.

and where can i get the gasket for between the manifolds

 

any help would be great need the car on road

block it and remove all your emissions stuff it does nothing. all just for some 1980's vacum system emissions genius

A set of 4-1 Pacemakers don't have that manifold stove crap either - just saying.

 

I think it's for warming the inlet manifold with warm water from the block during extreme cold weather (like snowing) warm-up.

 

Don't worry about the stove gasket if you block the rest off. And especially don't worry about it if you get Pacemakers.

It's actually EGR. Exhaust gas recirculation. Operated with a vacuum controlled valve.

When under throttle it does nothing. When you back off the pedal the fuel mixture leans and the engine begins to produce higher levels of carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbons.

The increased manifold pressure at closed throttle opens the valve and allows these bad guys to be recirced and reburnt.

ahh ok thanks gjm.. yeah if anyone has spare extractors or mani i will pay.

 

I'm after the gasket between the two any idea where i can order from thats not in a kit

Its called a 'hot box' gasket and can be bought at most parts shop. Wouldn't also be a bad idea to buy some new high tensile bolts when putting it back together.
