clean55 Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 (edited) block it and remove all your emissions stuff it does nothing. all just for some 1980's vacum system emissions genius Edited January 29, 2014 by clean55 Quote
dyylmate Posted January 29, 2014 Author Report Posted January 29, 2014 ahh ok thanks sweet just gotta somehow block the hole off, can't get that pipe bolt off for the life of me Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 If you can find some KE30 early ke55 3K gear. None of it has emissions crap and is all bolt on identical (minus the crap) Quote
dyylmate Posted January 29, 2014 Author Report Posted January 29, 2014 oh ok thanks heaps i will try find if not i will block off Quote
Mechanical Sympathy Posted January 29, 2014 Report Posted January 29, 2014 A set of 4-1 Pacemakers don't have that manifold stove crap either - just saying. I think it's for warming the inlet manifold with warm water from the block during extreme cold weather (like snowing) warm-up. Don't worry about the stove gasket if you block the rest off. And especially don't worry about it if you get Pacemakers. Quote
dyylmate Posted January 29, 2014 Author Report Posted January 29, 2014 not planning on doing much just aslong as it gets from A-B until i soruce all parts for sr20 conversion Quote
CREEDY Posted January 30, 2014 Report Posted January 30, 2014 someone on here has probably got a good manifold cluttering up their shed? Quote
GJM85 Posted January 31, 2014 Report Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) It's actually EGR. Exhaust gas recirculation. Operated with a vacuum controlled valve. When under throttle it does nothing. When you back off the pedal the fuel mixture leans and the engine begins to produce higher levels of carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbons. The increased manifold pressure at closed throttle opens the valve and allows these bad guys to be recirced and reburnt. Edited January 31, 2014 by GJM85 Quote
dyylmate Posted January 31, 2014 Author Report Posted January 31, 2014 ahh ok thanks gjm.. yeah if anyone has spare extractors or mani i will pay. I'm after the gasket between the two any idea where i can order from thats not in a kit Quote
Taz_Rx Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 Its called a 'hot box' gasket and can be bought at most parts shop. Wouldn't also be a bad idea to buy some new high tensile bolts when putting it back together. Quote
dyylmate Posted February 1, 2014 Author Report Posted February 1, 2014 all right thanks Taz didnt have anyclue on the name. Yep will do. got the Permaseal em30 gasket to, pretty beefy compared to the Split gaskets on the market Quote
