Jakey86 Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 Looking at converting my ae86 to disk rear. Running a zenki t,series drum ATM.Anybody have a bolt on conversion they wanna sell me? Or a t series zenki disk housing. I don't really want to fork out $1,500 for the k sport conversion. Don't want to cut & weld my diff as I can use it in other projects. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 Corona rear disc brakes can be modified to fit. Quote
Jakey86 Posted June 29, 2014 Author Report Posted June 29, 2014 I have a st141 diff with brakes. They didn't fit :( Quote
Jakey86 Posted June 29, 2014 Author Report Posted June 29, 2014 St141 caliper bracket on my t series Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 Were those from a live rear or IRS. There are multiple write ups about how this does work, and its been proven many times. Quote
Jakey86 Posted June 29, 2014 Author Report Posted June 29, 2014 Live axle. I'm pretty sure it's a f series. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 Theres a few write ups on Toymods about doing it. Pretty much all you need to do is make a 5mm bearing spacer and move your shock mounts in 10-15mm. Quote
corollaart Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 You will need a st141 live axle as the irs disc set up is completely different. It is straight bolt up the only thing is you need longer bolts to hold the axle and new wheel bearings. If you find one get every thing including rear handbrake cables and most important the AXLES as you will have to use the st141 axle retaining plates. Hence you need to remove the wheel bearings to fit them. Every think else bolts up ,note that 13 inch wheels don't fit 14 is the min. rob Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted June 29, 2014 Report Posted June 29, 2014 What about the bearing spacer that I have read about? Or is there a way around it? Quote
corollaart Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 (edited) The bearing spacer they talk about is a small ring on the axle retainer, which the t series doent have but the st141 axle retainers do. You could get some machined up and weld on to the t series retainers ,but why reinvent the wheel. Jake you might want check what diff you have, because they do bolt up. Not sure on shock mount may have to be moved mine was on ke55 so no trouble with shock mounts. rob Edited June 30, 2014 by corollaart Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 Ah OK I'm with you, use the Corona backing plates. Surprised I havent found any mention of that in my googling. Quote
corollaart Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Not the best picture, although you should get an idea of what's going on Quote
