1dirty30
So it has come to my attention that the master cylinder on my 76 ke30 is on its last legs (have to double pump the breaks any time I want to stop, the lines are all good and the brake fluid isn't going down quickly). the question now stands. Are k series master cylinders all the same or interchangeable?
Taz_Rx
They're different between 30 and 55. You can easily swap a 55 master into a 30 but you have to swap the booster too as the bolt spacing/angle is also different.
1dirty30
Cheers dude! I plan to buy a new one from repco in the next few days and didn't want to take the thing off and find it doesn't fit.
Taz_Rx
If you plan on doing any sort of break upgrade in the future then a bigger MC might not be a stupid idea. There's a few different types of Nissan MC's that will bolt straight onto a 30 booster. Have a search around the forum and you'll find what others have used. 1dirty30
Ok so got a new break master cylinder. This thing will bolt right in correct? no fiddly business or anything right? Edited April 16, 2015 by 1dirty30
CorollaNut68
Other than the normal new MC bench bleeding fiddly business and then the line bleeding ...if you got it for the 30 should be fine. Hold it next to the one in the car and make sure the bolts and lines are in the same place.
1dirty30
All done. will post a photo of it tomorrow!
1dirty30
So all done!!! But there has been a couple of odd things since: 1. When the new master cylinder was fitted and while the car was off and i depressed the breaks, there was an air leak from the gap between the break booster and the master cylinder? (yes i put a gasket in). 2. i have noticed what sounds like the break pads now rubbing on the disk. Is that normal seeing as i have replaced the master cylinder and bleed the breaks?
