Tenny0 Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 Hi all I'm putting some twin sides in my 5k. The problem I'm having is that the Carb manifold is hitting on one corner of the extractors. The extractor tube that is closest to the fire wall is the bit touching the manifold just in the corner and I can't manage to get bolt it all up. Has anyone had this problem?I'm using blue hurricane extractors and a redline twin side manifold. Would different extractors make a difference? Or should I just try to heat and hit it in a tad to clear. Cheers Tenny Quote
altezzaclub Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 Easiest is to grind away the inlet manifold, its only alloy. Bending the extractors might just put a tiny twist in them and they will never seal properly. Quote
RainWarriorDregs Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 +1 for grinding inlet manifold, i had to do the same on my single sidedraft redline manifold for my 5k. Quote
altezzaclub Posted December 7, 2015 Report Posted December 7, 2015 Check the thicknesses of the manifold flanges too. If there is a difference between the inlet and exhaust you will have to pack the washers on the manifold bolts. If you just do it up the thicker manifold will get all the pressure and the thinner one will leak. A bit of slightly thicker wire inserted under the washer will do, or use half-washers that you can glue onto the full washers. Quote
Tenny0 Posted December 7, 2015 Author Report Posted December 7, 2015 Thanks guys. I'll try grind away a bit of the manifold hopefully won't need to grind to much. Cheers Tenny Quote
