My Corolla Ke 70

Recommended Posts

I got my corolla for my 21st off my husband 4 years ago. we recently re-conditioned a 4kc engine and are putting webbers onto it, it has a 3k distributor because we have removed all of the vaccumm advanced stuff, we also have straight through extractors, now my car sounds like a VW. and we have never been able to set the timing right it has to be advanced. please help :P

Also who did the reco, my old bluebird had a stretched timing chain so the valves were opening and closing at a different time that the crank was turning, i ended up telling everyone that i had a boxer engine in it and they believed me.

EDIT: Sorry forgot to mention, Maybe the timing is out a tooth.

you must have a vacuum line off of the manifold to the brake booster? try teeing off that. not quite the same as ported vacuum (off the carb), but sometimes they go better with manifold vacuum.

either way, you will get better fuel economy and part throttle response with a functional vacuum advance.

i'd try winding up the base timing. bump it up to say 12 degs and try it out. if it improves try an extra 2 degs at a time until you get no further benefit.

maybe you could look into getting the dizzy recurved to suit your mods.
