Hey guys, I'm new to this club.

 

I currently own an AE90 corolla, it's a 1.4L Carburetter DOHC 1989 model. I was just wondering whether you had any ideas on modifying this vehicle?

put a 4age in it

as robert said, if your serious about getting some more oomph go to a 4age.

not cheap, but much more rewarding than wasting money on an asmatic narrow head

Yeah it's a 1.4 DOHC 6AFC. What corolla's do the 4age come stock in? Another question, my car has got a slight backfire, and it is spitting out a heap of condensation and what I belive are carbon particles out of the exhaust. I have tried numerous options: new plugs, fixed the timing which was out 3 degrees. New needle and seat, checked the float level in carby which was fine. But it is still doing it. I'm out of options. Any ideas???

carbon out the zorst coudl be carbon build it. flog the shit out of it for a good bit clean her out a treat :)

Yeah stock exhaust up to rear muffler which is a lukey performance muffler. I already give it a bit of a flogging. It doesn't help. And it is noticeably using more fuel as well. Any thoughts?

is it condesation only when you start it or all the time?

Yeah, it's running a bit rich I think, it's not using any water though.

tune it properly and see how she goes.

 

the smoke your getting out the back is black, which is why ur thinking its carbon yes?

could also be unburnt fuel coz its running rich

I thought it could of been unburnt fuel, wasn't sure though. I will have to adjust the mixture in the carby then.
