That's a fair bit of cost and trouble to go to just get a new motor in. Remember that all the fuel lines will have to be changed over to high pressure EFI lines (from the rear of the car to the front). An AE92 wouldn't really be worth the cost. You could sell the car for a couple of hundred to someone who wants to drop in a performance motor and find a replacement car for your grandad. Spending $2,500 plus labour just seems wasteful.

 

And Nick, remember that they're probably looking at a reconditioned motor. But yes, you could easily get a 4A-FE for around $750-1000 from a wreckers.
