Can we go back to the future and use the old 'Username and password' instead of the new 'email address and password'?

A username is much easier to remember than whatever email I was using two decades ago and it has probably died since then. I assume the whole revamp of the site appearance was imposed upon the club, but just in case there are some choices for the Mods...
