I have recently looked at a vehicle for sale which the owner says may need the valve stem seals to be replaced. I was just wondering how expensive/hard this would be to fix?? I have searched the forums and couldn't find anything so sorry if i am reposting an old thread. The car is an early model 83 celica (i know it's not a corolla but it's a toyota).

Probably a job for a mechanic to do with the right tools....without the right stuff to do it, it becomes very painful.

Pull the head off, give it to a shop. $200 to $300 to reco the head. Bolt back on.
