teza40 Posted March 27, 2007 Author Report Posted March 27, 2007 Hi..well not so new member on here now..lol. tho progress on the van has been very slow (drive it more than i have time to work on it) and have been waiting for the queensland summer to end and the nicer weather without humidity, makes it better too paint a car. i was lucky enough to pick up an 81 ke 38 wagon to raid parts from, the genie extractors are fitted, the front buckets from ke70 from it are also in and much more comfortable than the originals.oh yeah and picked up a good condition bonnet long time ago from nanrangba wreckers (the other one was way too rusty). still on the change over list is the 5 speed gearbox and 5k engine, the mag wheels (my choice of the two sets that came with the wagon)need money for decent tyres for them. an interior revamp also... but like i said too much fun driving this little beast. too work on it,keeps the k`s down on my toyota 4 runner 4x4.and cheaper to run the panel van. few update pic`s. enjoy and stay tuned for a custom paint job some time around june 07 (i have place to paint it properly now,not out in the elements). cheers teza40 terry Quote
teza40 Posted January 12, 2008 Author Report Posted January 12, 2008 HI 2 all, Well its now 2008, i started this thread on the ke38 van like back in sept 2006. Not much work has been done since i put the later model seats in,but recently got around to putting in an old school black spoke and leather bound saas sports steering wheel and a panasonic cheapie CD radio unit (yeah gone is the tape deck, lol). This week end 12 -1- 2008, i thought it was about time too get rid of the shag carpet that has adourned the back of this van for around 18 years. So no more shag in the wag, well thats the intention. have gone for a grey vinyl for the rear passanger-cargo area as i will still use the van too carry crap around etc.So not looking at doing an A class pro job on it, a little rough is ok by me. The floor will get black carpet and the door trims will be a combination of the same grey vinyl and a purple crushed velvet (yes sounds 70`s tacky, but it is a late 70`s van after all and velvet was the rage back in the day) done in a design i have in mind to match the outside of the van when i eventually get around too painting it.Will get the left side done on sunday and the tailgate board and all fitted with four speakers in the rear. enjoy the pics Cheers Teza Quote
PHATKE20S Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 Hi Mate, that's starting to look good inside :fuzz: Did your KE70 seats bolt straight in? They look a lot more comfortable. I too have a Wagon now. They are so practical when you need to cart stuff hey. Quote

teza40 Posted January 13, 2008 Author Report Posted January 13, 2008 Ok heres sundays effort 13-1-2008, left side done and fitted with 6x9 panasonic speakers fitted in both side panels, and tailgate panel remade and covered also a pair of 4x6 speakers fitted. I have monday off and plan on doing the false floor, raised around 25mm or more with places cut out for the tool box and trolley jack.So as too stop them from sliding around in the cargo area, then covered in black- charcol marine carpet. Here`s a couple more pics, say tuned for more later Cheers Teza Quote
teza40 Posted January 14, 2008 Author Report Posted January 14, 2008 ok monday 14-1-2008, Effort on the van,as mentioned new false floor. No more tool box and trolley jack slide all over the rear having a party with my sometimes wild driving.lol. so a new supprt frame was made under the MDF board,42x19mm runners to supprot the raised floor.board cut in two sections and made as close fit as possible around wheel arches etc. (NO HOLES) where drilled into the middle part of the cargo floor.(THE FUEL TANK LIVES UNDER THERE) only in the two runners at front and tail gate end of the cargo area are fixed to the steel floor. The runners are screwed to the mdf sheet only..this may be a handy hint for others.would hate some one to stuff a good fuel tank. So far this interior re-bop has cost around $75.00 cost break daown 2mtr x 1.4mtr grey vinyl @ spotlight $39.90 2x 1830mmx915mmx3mm mdf board $15.00 3x 42mmx19mmx1.8mtr timber lenghts $6.57 1x 500ml tin glue $9.70 1x 50 qty screws $3.95 Still have approx 2mtr x1.5mtr marine carpet to get at around maybe $40.00 This little project has turned out as i would hope and has given me something to do on 3 days off.aint that whats cars is all about.and to do it yourself is even better. enjoy the pics and stay tuned, when more money is available the front gets done Cheers Teza Quote
JiP Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 Why remove the shagpile?? 8/ Looking good mate tho don't you think the tool box will block prime bootspace?? Just a thought but wouldn't it been better if you sat one of each behind each wheel well?? Quote
teza40 Posted January 15, 2008 Author Report Posted January 15, 2008 (edited) Why remove the shagpile?? 8/ Looking good mate tho don't you think the tool box will block prime bootspace?? Just a thought but wouldn't it been better if you sat one of each behind each wheel well?? Hey Jon, removed shag pile cos its so outdated and old n dirty looking.fair comment on the tool box and yes i did look at doing it the way you suggest. But hey its a van and with the seat folded down i have shit loads of carrying space,I thought the space in the middle would be to narrow so i put it too one side and the tool box as shown in the pic can be opened without fouling on anything so as not to be removed from the cargo space if not needed. thanks for the comments, maybe ideas for your wagon hey Edited January 16, 2008 by teza40 Quote
PMP020 Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 Jip, is he put the tool box behind wheel well he would not beable to open as he can now. top work son, uve just made a very practical van into a VERY VERY practical van. keep it up. cheers, scott Quote
JiP Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 Each to their own. Looks neat. Good job. My tool box in thin and I hope to maybe store mine under the back seat. Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 Plus since it's only a toolbox, he can throw shit on top of it and not worry. I think it's a good idea regardless....and might look into something similar for my wagon! Top work  Quote
teza40 Posted January 16, 2008 Author Report Posted January 16, 2008 Hey thanks guys, yes each to their own on how they do things and what they do on their cars. Cheers for the comments Teza Quote
teza40 Posted January 21, 2008 Author Report Posted January 21, 2008 Ok, so as mentioned previously.the interior was too get some purple, yep purple well today i did the dash top which was ugly and cracked in a few places. It now has been padded with some wadding and purple velvet. and the tan plastic has been primed and sparyed with indigo (purple metallic) powers plus paint. So welcome to a real 70`s van style interior...lol More work still too do,but getting there. enjoy cheers Teza Quote
