I have changed a lot of them in my Supra years. The only reason M series engine head gaskets blow so easy is because of low factory torque specs. Every time I get a 5/6/7m, I remove the head, have it plained slightly, throw on a new head gasket, fasten it all together with arp head studs, torque to 92 ft/lbs, and never worry about them. Works great.

Well, I have a 7m here that I removed from a wrecked '87 Supra that I could stick in it, or one of my 5m's. I have also thought of how nice a 1uzfe would be.. Whatever I do, it'll be as different as the paint color. :hmm:

I have been battling this thing for the past week all day, every day. Wake up when thhe suns rising, go to sleep when I can't see. Here is the rest of the photos I have to share. :hmm: And heeeere she is! And before work: I'm glad I bought this thing.

Haha, thanks. I like it too. Here's my progress today: The rear. My god, what the previous owner had in mind, I'm yet to figure out. The whole rear quarter was body filler, and under it, was straight, rust free metal! I got all of that off, and have got it primed, waiting for the grabber green. Before: Half way there: Relief! I also painted the rear door on that side today: Along with both front fenders: God, she looks beast, only half way through.

Here's the color, Grabber green. I got the (U.s) drivers side sanded, and primed today. I got the hood (Bonnet) and front fascia primed and painted. I'm hoping to have it wearing all green by the end of the week. Let me know your thoughts. Like it? Love it? Want to set it on fire? Haha. I just wanted to be different, and I think I got it lol.

Thanks, so do I. :)

Not much done lately, had to put a motor in my MA61. Ugh, what a pain. Didn't realize the clutch disc was bent, had to pull the transmission 3 times to get it fixed right. Anyway, I removed the front clip today, beat the dent out of the front drivers (Passenger for you guys) fender. Looks better already. I painted the grill and head light bezels black while it was apart, and painted behind where the front bumper once was. I also thought of a wacky color to paint it, lime GREEN. I will also be doing the interior in black instead of this blue. Green and black sounds sexy. What's left of the battery tray: Primered wiper cowl Door rust. Worse than I thought, but I actually found a local coupe, so I'm gonna try to get the doors, etc off of the guy.

Ok, new question. Is a 3tc carb a 3tc carb? What I mean, is are all 3tc carbs the same? I would like to buy this kit, but I don't want to get something that will not work. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/73-74-Toyot...=item35a3642a52
-
It has a 3tc.. It's a te72 in the states.

Hey guys/girls. I have a few questions here. Firstly, the carb on my 3tc needs work like I need a million dollars. It's stock, and I'm sure it's never been touched. I need to know, does anyone have a vacuum hose diagram for the 3tc? I ran a search, but it didn't give me any results. I can get it off, clean/rebuild it, but the only problem would be getting it back on, and having the car actually run again, haha. Secondly: Does anyone have any recommendation on a good aftermarket carb that will fit? I don't have the money for webers or anything, so I would just like a nice aftermarket replacement. If it costs enough to rebuild it, I'll just get a new one and slap it on her. Thanks everyone!

No replacement panels anywhere around. I can't even find one of these cars in a junkyard here. I may wind up making and welding in panels myself.
-
Yeah, Ma61's are boss. :P
-
Alright, I will check that out here in a little while.

Made a bridge and they lit up. Remove the reverse light switch, hooked the wires up, and pressed it. They worked like new. Put it back in the transmission, and I have no reverse lights. I switched the wires, and still not a thing.. Maybe something is wrong with the transmission?
-
I plan to fix the body up, but I'm going to build the engine up first, and find victims, heh. These wagons are rare over here, but the 5 speed is extremely rare over here. Every 1 in 5 you find is a 5 speed.

It's a 5 speed. I'll try bridging them and see if that makes them come on.

I'm going to start a build thread. This will be a ongoing restoration, and modification build. Let's get started. I bought this car 6/30/2010. I gave $400.00 American for it. I drove it a hour and a half home with zero issues. It ha d been sitting a while. Rotten 13'' tires, exhaust leaks, you name it. I had been looking for a Corolla for a while now, and it looks pretty cute next to my Supras. The morning after I bought it, I tore into it. I have 18 Ma61 rims, so I put a nice set on it. I had to roll the fenders, because I pretty much ate the tires off of the first set of rims I put on the back. They didn't look like they were that close to the fender lip. The list as it goes on so far. I have added mkIII Supra power seats, wired in and working. New rear carpet, Toyota Cressida dome light swap, Completely rebuilt the rear brakes, removed the rear bumper and rear wiper, installed new bulbs all the way around, removed all of the Ac stuff, most of the engine bay stuff. She runs better than she looks. I'm looking to get some nice 13'' rims with some nice lip, lower it a little bit, satin black it, and recover the interior in black leather. Stay tuned, everyone!

Hey guys/girls. As some of you know, I recently bought a '81 Te72 wagon. I have fixed a few wiring problems, replaced a few parts, and to no avail. I thought I had a wiring problem when my hazard signal wouldn't work, but someone removed the fuse and never replaced it. Here is the problem I'm having: First off is the horn. I got a extra with the car. I removed the horn from the car, and hooked it straight to a battery. It didn't work. The extra I got with the car did almost make me def when I hooked it to a battery. I bolted it back to the car, hooked it up, and it didn't work. I removed the steering wheel, cleaned every horn contact, and still no working. What else would I need to check? Second: I have no reverse lights. I got under the car today, and noticed the wires running t the reverse light switch weren't hooked up. Tracked them down, one had a missing end. I replaced the end, hooked it back up, and they still don't work. I tried switching the wires, that didn't make them work either. I also swapped in a new reverse light switch, and that did no good either. What could be the culprit? One more thing: Is their maybe a online repair manual for these cars? I know the Supras have a online repair manual, but I can't find anything for these cars. I would love a online manual, scans, etc. I've had no luck looking so far. Thanks!

Very interested to see how this turns out. Me and my dad was talking about trying this the other night.

We actually are almost in the same boat as you guys. Our 14'' selection is getting smaller every year. I did fix my tire issue today. I rolled the fenders. Finally finished wiring in my mkIII Supra seat, and it works like a charm.
-
I'm glad others think the way I do. I was thinking of just leaving the body as is other than the dent. I'm having trouble with the wheels. I got 225/60/14's to fit the rear, but 215/60/14's in the front scrub. I don't know what tire size I need to get. I'm going to try for some 205's all around and see where that gets me. If not, I may wind up rolling the fenders slightly. I did remove the rear bumper though. I took it off because I found out their was a gigantic ant bed inside. But when I went to put it back on, I couldn't find the heart. It looks so slick without the rear bumper. I also fitted a Toyota Cressida dome light. It bolted, and plugged up perfectly. And I found out that with a little bolt hole elongating and wiring, the mkIII Supra electronic seats fit great.

It's a 3t-c, with a 5 speed. :)
-
Went and picked it up today! Drove it a hour and a half back home with me with zero issues. A few things that caught my attention: If you step on the gas, the fuel hand in the cluster will slowly go to empty, let off of the gas, and it goes back to where ever it's at. The drivers side window trys to jump into the car with you if you don't let it down before you take off The rear door isn't shutting right, I need to adjust it. Other than that and an exhaust leak, it is awesome!.. And ugly. I'll fix that.

Hey guys, new guy here. My name is Cody, and I'm from Martin, Ga. Hopefully the new owner of a '81 wagon this coming Friday. runs great, needs brake work. Owner wants $400.00 for it. Rust is only surface, no holes.. yet. I'm mainly wanting to use it as a DD while I finish building my Supra(s). I'm wanting to buy it, flat black it, and stick 4 of my 14 p-type Supra 14'' rims on it. I think it would look pretty descent. Maybe wrap the interior in some new material, heck, I dunno. Anyways, thanks for having me guys. Oh yeah, my turds. -Cody
