  1. Ive been following for a long time and your car is a massive inspiration for me also. I myself am building a KE20 too, not as crazy as yours but fast enough for me  Your thoughts on the rear end... Ive minitubbed mine and moved the leaves inboard 100mm to accomodate my tires. I'm undecided on whether to go a 2 link or caltrac... or mixture of both.. I'm sure you have been through this already? What are your thoughts? I'm probably going to be running some where say from 9.0-9.5sec. Keep at it man! Love the car! Hope one day to make it up to QLD to see this beast
  2. Don't want to rely on a chute. I'm not worried about chute fitment as ive done my fair share. Strange setup lol... I'm not a rich man. I am just wanting a solid brake combo with little weight added. I have EB rear brakes and a Willwood Proportioning valve, just deciding on fronts and the Z31s seem an easy way out. In a car that weighs 900kg wet they should work great. I was just wondering if anyone had tried the Z31 hub on a R31 strut...
  3. This thread has got me thinking... I'm doing a KE at the moment that will be drag raced. Ive got 5x 114 Pro stars.... I see you have the R32 disc and caliper and I know that 15in rims wont fit. Has anyone tried the Z31 turbo 5x114 disc and calipers???? Are the Z31 struts the same? Ive been trying to track down a Z31 turbo to scavenge from. Are there any discs that are 5x114 that fit the R31 strut and still able to use the 15in rim? This is what I'm chasing... From what ive seen the Z31 could be a viable option. Has anyone tried???
  4. Yes your right. Its been some time since I worked at Toyota. lol We did the recall on both the 3VZ and 5VZ. They had serious corosion issues with the block decks. I had to replace many blocks. Sorry for the confusion.. I'm getting old. lol Something different would be the 2.7 3RZ? From the 2WD hilux.. Someone jump on me if I'm wrong again, like I said, been about 10years..
  5. Thats fair enough. Ill keep trying
  6. Have you managed to register one? Engineered? I'm in the process of doing a KE20 and was thinking to rego it if its possible. Ive already gone 10.30@135 in a VP Commodore and have a more grunty motor in mind for the KE20. Though it will be N/A for the engineers...
  7. I meant twin on each head. He said SOHC. You can't have a SOHC on a V shape motor can you. lol They have one cam belt pulley and scissor gears in the head to drive the 2 cams per head.
  8. No they are twin cam. I did the factory head gasket recall on them in 1998. I must have done 200 of them lol.. I'm going with the old Ecotec mainly because I know what makes em tick and they can make very easy power in the right hands.
  9. If most V6 blocks are 250kg I must be superman! I can carry a holden V6 block and heads so they can't be anywhere near that. More around the 100-120 mark id say. Most of the understear issues ive seen with the v6s fitted seem to be incorrect spring choice and wheel alignment. Try the 3VZ out of the 4Runner.
  10. Instead of useing the camry 3vz, use the hilux/4Runner 3vz. Its already rear wheel drive :y: And its very grunty! I used to drive them every day when I worked at city Toyota.
  11. Is it white? I think I know the one your talking about. A guy I know in QLD bought it. Its a nice car! Its very similar to what I want to do for the engineers. Ill just do all the turbo stuff later on. So he is on here? Id like to ask him who did the engineers report...
  12. Yeh its in top nick, not a spec of rust and straight. Na not for sale. Was hard enough to find this one.
  13. Have you thought of a 3VZ?? Grunty motor! From the V6 4 Runner. I'm only going the Holden V6 due to the fact its cheap to make easy power and they are relativly small.
  14. Ive built many a car in my time and I'm not afraid of a challenge. I once fitted a VG30DETT to a Datto 1600.. I know the KE20s are getting rare and collectable but there isnt much else left to buy to mod. Ive had plenty to do with the old V6 having raced a few, last year I went 10.79@126 in a Factory Supercharged VT calais and a friend of mine has been racing a VP commodore that ive been helping with and he just went 10.30@135 so..... I figured a KE is about 600kg lighter than a VT  It makes for an easy 9sec car with out having to stress the motor. Ill contact an engineer and see what the go will be. If I can't rego it, ill just race it. Thanks for the help :)
