  1. The window winder has a small horseshoe shaped clip between the handle & the door trim that holds it onto the winder shaft. A thin flathead screwdriver can be pushed in between the winder & the door trim, then wind the handle around until you can feel (might need to jam your face against the door trim to see it properly ) it catch then wind the handle around until it pops off. *WARNING* I recommend having glasses on as these things can easily take out an eye, also you may have fun trying to work out just where the hell it went flying to! :laff:

This guy is on the money. An alternative is to get a plastic bag, put the handle over the winder, then pull the handle into the open side of the horseshoe clip and wiggle it until the clip comes out. Or use a window winder removal tool, I have one you can borrow if you need it.

  2. Nice VT, they're not a bad daily, and there is fun to be had in RWD cars ;)

High flow cat won't do a thing performance wise, but it will affect exhaust note and volume somewhat. If you want the exhaust to sound decent without drawing too much attention, a hotdog on the tailpipe, or even a second muffler is the go.

  3. Finally got around to doing the change, was well overdue as the fuel that came out of it had a brown tinge to it.

I pulled out the fuel/EFI relay to depressurise the system, cranked the car a couple times as well.

Was not an easy task, care has to be taken with the lower flare nut fitting, it's not hard to accidentally round them, a pipe spanner or a vice grip would be good to use.

  4. Hey man,

I'm just after some ideas for audio upgrades for my AE93 Seca. My goal is sound quality, but i do want to be able to get it loud as well, maybe get a decent figure at sound comps, but I do want to keep the whole setup affordable.

I'm thinking of Clarion 4" speakers for the front, mounted in stock position.

Not really sure what to replace the rear speakers with.

Might put 6" speakers in the parcel shelf

I'd want to get a single ported sub in the boot, probably a 12"

And finally I want to replace the outdated headunit with something which can play Mp3's and has USB input. Maybe an EONON to keep costs down?

How does the above sound and what should I go for to meet my goals?

  5. Looks like it cleaned up pretty well after the mold attack, hope to see this car back on the road one day.

And what's the story behind the Corolla GP? I have never seen or heard of one until today.

  6. Option 1 or 2 me thinks, seems to be in good condition considering it's all original, and it runs well ,so its worth a bit of TLC, even if its the easy way out with option 2, will keep the car alive to serve you, or the next owner well for years to come.

It definitely has potential to be a clean daily :)

  7. Thats not too bad economy, but a simple thing as changing the spark plugs, air filter and fuel filter should make a difference. I take it your driving style is preety sensible with the occasional clearing of the cobwebs. If there is a subtle change, but not what you'd expect, i'd consider checking the sensors and giving it a bottle of injector cleaner and spraying out the throttle body.

As an example, my ae94 hatch I bought in March with a 4afe and 5 speed driven preety sedately that has had new plugs, air filter, oil, oil filter, coolant, throttle body clean, a shot of injector cleaner (which you should try) gave me very good economy for city driving which was 180kms and 11.08 litres of fuel which returned 6.15L/100km.

I fill the tank to full, when the 1st quarter is used thats when I top it up, hence 180kms, and amount of fuel used.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll change the filters, plugs, leads, clean out the throttlebody and see how I go.

Nice ae93. I really like the look of the lift back design but I've never been in one and driven one. There is one near my work that looks so sexy! I love to look at it haha, have fun with your corolla!

Thanks, I find it to be an easy car to drive and has plenty of poke for the street, so it makes a great daily!

  8. Air filter looked pretty clean when I last looked at it (a month ago)

I've found the location of the fuel filter, passenger side of the engine bay, up the back near the firewall, just under the charcoal canister.

Do Toyota sell these? Or would a shop such as Bursons be able to source them?

  9. Not much to update on, except oil and coolant was changed within the last two months. And the car has seen more regular use as a daily.

One thing that concerns me though, is the car's fuel consumption. With a mix of city/highway driving, and usually driving at a similar pace to the rest of the traffic, i'm getting about 7.5/8L per 100km, or about 450km to approx 36L, a bit more than they should be using?

Is it worth changing plugs, leads and fuel filter (haven't been done since buying the car back in march)or does this point to a sensor issue?

  10. Good choice for an L plater car, they're easy to maneuver, are more forgiving than some other cars in handling terms and economical. And they're hardly cop bait if you keep this one through your P's. :fuzz:

If you plan to keep the car for a number of years, then a 4age conversion would not be a bad idea if you can get hold of the equipment required.

Here's a set of chrome trim rings, not sure if theres are the best or cheapest, just the first thing i saw http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Premium-Chrome-Wheel-Band-Trim-Ring-13-SET-4-/120734255527?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c1c5289a7

You might want to source a tacho dash later on, or if you're 100% on a 4age conversion, just get a dash from an AE93 (6 gauge cluster)
