  1. what ignition did you use exactly? if you don't mind me asking. Did you use a crank angle sensor for timing?, i don't understand why you would have to program the map positions seperately, did you run a vaccum line from the manifold with a resivoir (spelling) to equalize the vaccum reading?
  2. Was checking out wheels online and saw this My link so i tried to do this... this is original size dish but my center doesn't fit the other way around!! :bash: I measured it, its about 2-3mm narrower diameter on the opposite side of the rim What's the chances/price/isitevenworthit of getting either center cap or rim tickled down a little bit?? for CRAZY AWSOME DEESHH!! :D like 1mm off the centre all the way round would probably do it
  3. yes a 4age head would make a fair bit more power, the advantage of using the 4ac head is its cheaper and also less mucking around with electrics as you would be able to run it all with standard loom. although 4age head and carbs just running on dizzy with locked out timing wouldn't be too much of a hassle. I've been reading up on megajolt junior ignition system, seems to be the go for running carbs without a dizzy. Not too expensive, and you can fully program ignition curve, vaccumm advance and some other stuff. makes it a bit easier to tune
  4. stock standard 4k ke70, did 555km's to full 40L tank and literally ran it dry. luckily made it up the last hill before the servo.. this included a couple hours of cultivating a particular vacant space of land in an industrial area, some offroading, towing an eb falcon for a few blocks and few other shinanigans
  5. just read all the responses to this thread and wondering what the original method was lol, do you remove the front guards to do them or just the wheels? and wooden dolly and hammer, work out the rest..
  6. hmm, well if i managed to get a hold of an ae71 wreck.. no idea how hard they are to find... I reckon it would be worth it, it's one step up from a 4k and its easier/cheaper than a 7age and then its halfway there anyway, thrash it around for a while and save up for 7age build :)
  7. yeh seems fairly straight forward.. soo for ke70 would need ae71/ae86 crossmember and engine mounts? t50 gearbox, 7afe or 4k flywheel and clutch, tailshaft shortened? and wouldn't have to touch the loom, bolt on the webers, laughin
  8. hahah don't all ke70's with modified/cut off exhausts sound fast :P this is another option :P My link
  9. hmm, might end up spending more on the 4k than i planned.. to be honest i want a 4age lol, but i want more out of my 4k in the meantime. thus my reasoning for carbies, but if i have to build up the 4k to use them then i will just save m oney for 4age haha.. Thanks altezza, put it simply the car will drown with all that extra fuel of the webers.
  10. so what does it look like now?
  11. my 38 dcoe sideraft carbs :) would it be worth putting them on a stock 4k with a set of extractors? better throttle response or power increase? I am pretty sure they were set up for a ford Kent motor 1600cc specs: 30mm venturis F11 Emulsion Tubes 180 air correction jets 140 main jets 45 f23 idle jets Just looking for a little feedback, maybe someone who has a similiar setup could shed some light, I'm kinda thinking that unless I modify my engine i probably wont gain much at all.. might just save these for another project..
  12. thanks mate, only got a 6 point socket, and couldn't find imperial one to fit, that makes sense tho, the bolts looks as though its designed for a 12 point socket.. conclusion, need better tools haha
  13. ok forget that hahaha i found them, but the have a weird head, not like a regular bolt head they almost look like a spline from something, 10mm is too small and 11mm socket is slipping on the bolt, strangeee... would they be imperial size? this is a 2001 model engine wtf
  14. First of all I have never pulled an engine apart before. closest i've come is pulling a carby off a moto and what not. I took off the cam cover, pulled off the fuel system and the headers, got the cams out... where do i go from here? what holds the head to the block? is it just the headgasket sealing it on or is there other bolts somewhere.. haha I know how nooby this must sound, but hey gotta learn somehow
  15. being young(er) trying to start my paddock keto with a 2Lt coke bottle shoved down the carb, rewrewrewrewrrew BAANNGG!! oh that sounded cool rewrewrewrwew WTF FLAMESS AAGHHHH!! jump out and start running around like headless chicken, not sure wether to run back and pull the fuel bottle off and save the ke70 from inferno or bail and dive just in time for massive holiwood style explosion :no2:
  16. UPDATE: front bumper adjustment I was staring lovingly at my lil beast.. just thinking F#@K that front bumper sticks out alot!! I really don't like it.. but I know it will be a while before i can afford some nice shiny chrome ones, what can i do?? well I proceeded to remove the said bumper and see what I could do with it.. I got it off all good and examined what I had to work with, the steel brackets got some re adjustment, now about 60mm shorter. I had to bend and cut the brackets a bit (a lot) in and out of vice anvel etc but eventually got some new bolt holes that lined up with original nuts welded on the bumper. I got both brackets shorter and bolted up, test fit on car... sits closer in but still not far enough.. I observed the other end of the bracket where it bolts in the engine bay.. yes i can cut that hole longer and move it closer.. so i did, now its hard up against the apron, but this still wasn't enough, I pulled the plastic off my bumper got my angle grinder and proceeded removing rased edge on the bumper... did the same to plastic with a jigsaw. thats how much i cut off and how it looks, i didnt have a pic of before but I'm sure its much more snug now  had a bit of mucking around with the ends of the bumper, had to cut them down and screw through into metal, bit dodgey but hey better than buying new ones for now  Only problem is now i might be blocking air flow to radiator, not sure but I remember hearing something about how bumpers are designed to direct the airflow... mights nead to cut and bend down the back edge a bit to direct airflow. I am yet to drive it like this so i'll make sure to keep an eye on temp gauge when i do.
  17. thanks mate, yeh she is nice and simple thats for sure.. cheers for colour name and that, not sure if its worth just touching up with original colour it would be almost as much work for a whole respray.. rust coming through on bonnet and clear coat peeling all over the place... hmmm but undercoat looks good
  18. yeh man simple is how i like it, if something goes wrong with it, i can actually see, hear smell what it is, plus have a half decent chance of fixing the problem. you may have seen me cruising around, I live near Gympie.. but I come down the coast to catch up with mates on weekends.. So are there many rolla club members around sunny coast? thanks bro, yeh i've got a 4 speed in a paddock basher at me ol mans place, but its in nsw and i am in qld haha, roadtrip... and yeh starting to think maybe keep the paint colour although it needs alot of touching up, someone has painted some sort of clear over which is all peeling off from the back doors back its like that... but i kinda like a ke70 in undercoat also :P we will see, my neighbour has a compressor and a spray gun and i have sandpaper discs and tin of primer/filler....
  19. AGGHH yeh thats the one... a k50 :bash: sorry still learning the codes..and everything, cheers mate
  20. cheers man, yehh sorry meant 4k... ahh yehh its been done... maybe not exactly the way i intend to but yehh sure been done i.e 7age... I plan to go smallport 4age head on 7afe and run carbs and timing computer, getting the engine bay as clean and minimal as possible :D but yeh thats long term plan, for now just getting a manual swap in would be a huge thing for me, i already LOVE this car ayy haha seriously best car iv owned, even if its an auto... anyone selling a K50 near brisy/sunshine coast??
  21. Hello fellow rolla owners, My name is Ben, I have been checkin out this site for a while, learning all about our cars... thought i'd say hi and show my rolla this is my baby, blue keto born may 1982 :D dead stock except for kings lowered springs all round, monroe shocks front, gabriels rear and the wheels of course :P plans: * fix paint * get the 4k running nice and smooth, get it breathing better * carb upgrade and exhaust * manual swap...auto is baaaad :bash: i can barely even keep up with traffic lol long term plan: 7afe with a better flowing head, twin dcoes and timing comp soo here it is...
  22. yeh, i did get the gland nut to turn but thats not how i got the shock out, i gave up on turning it and just jumped on it in the vice... i will give it another shot tomorrow or get a bigger hammer for this job
  23. ^^^^ i could of used those adjustable grinder things GREAT! well i got one out, put the shaft of shock in vice, jumped on stut repeatedly hahahaha, but the other one is a little trickier, I'm sure this thing doesn't have thread and is pressed in because i was spinninging at least 20 times around with pointy nosed pliers and it didnt come out at all, wasnt climbing the thread..???? but yeh getting a bit late for tools, will continue this tomorow
  24. yeh i got the big nut off, but the shockie wont budge....
  25. just cut the top of the stut off ayy... hahah
