  1. Haven't had one on the road for a little while but I should have another on the road soon, a KE55/te37 levin. My brother will also have a KE55 when he finishes his conversion.
  2. If there was a Central Coast chapter I would love to give it a go, or even if one of the other coasties/newy guys did it it would be great.
  3. Ok thanks fellas, already got the reg's its just I want to make sure there isn't any extras I have missed or recomendations. Redwarf reckon you couls check the thread I started in KExx section, st nick said you will be the person to speak to. Peachey
  4. Regarding the Targa thing, I would like to build it reasonably close to targa spec anyway and give it a go, if worst comes to worst I will be happy doing all the other events possible on the tarmac rally calander along with all the tack days I can enter etc. Also we have recently just taken the old Mini Cooper S race car out of hiding and registered which was raced by a very close family friend who is quite well known in historic tarmac rally. The car was only raced in the only Cannonball Run and was retired after the drivers wife moved on. Regarding the welding I know the basics but I was hoping for the specific problem areas of the corollas, possibly if anyone has had previous built race cars and tested the specific cars. I have all the equipment etc and know most of what I have to do(I'm a panel beater), and I know its not necessary to weld up the entire though. Cheers, Peachey
  5. Just about to strip out my KE30 sedan for its ground up rebuild and resto, while its bare I want to weld up the chassis. Just wondering if anyone on here has tested out the problem areas that require welding under heavy loads and long term stress, and what areas I should be looking at welding up. It will be recieving a conversion that is going to be a pretty huge change from the stock 3K-H, think modded BEAMS 3SGE Blacktop(check project topic started recently). If it makes any difference I will be stitch welding the seams rather the just the regular full seam welds. Regards, Peachey
  6. Anyone on here actually built or prepped a car for Targa? I am looking to entering in the near future and trying to speak to everyone I can for advice and to make sure I don't miss anything and disqualify my car from entering. Thinking I am going to have to go into the thoroughbred class. Peachey
  7. Thats strange sounds like I am the complete opposite. Young bloke, dark brown hair, no facial hair(most of the time), reasonably new work pants and any old shirt, and non smoker. :) By the way Rolln 03 looks like I wont need to move to QLD or anything to register the rod anyway. Come across an awesome project I should be buying this weekend. Only an original chassis, 20's dodge cowl along with a professionally add ons built from scratch to be a roadster pickup and not really much else. Exactly the type of thing I am after and at a good price. So my current project will be sped up a little and my long term rod project wont be as big of a hassle as originally planned. Your rod is bloody low, looks to be coming along perfectly, if only all build ups went that way. Kepp up the top work and keep us updated. Peachey
  8. Ok good to hear you will be able to register it, although this raises the thought of something along the lines of all the people who are now unable to build scratch built rods and get full rego, why don't they just have them registered in QLD originally and then bring them elsewhere and transfer them over? How long ago were your other two rods built? there has been a hell of alot of changes made over the past 2-3 years and has raised alot of confusion, frustration, problems etc. among builders. A dedicated section regarding registration has been added to the ozrodders forums for that specific reason, if I get the chance I will run this by them, if not it might be worthwhile checking if the other cars were built a while back. I have all the plans here ready to go for a scratch built chassis for a rod I plan to start building for show purposes in a couple of years time. I would have probably started already if it was registable in any way at all, even if it meant being registered in a relative or friends name from another state or whatever it took. None the less looks to be some top quality work yoiur doing there and can't wait to see more pics. Peachey
  9. Awesome stuff mate. Coming along very nicely, although I recomend you check and be 100% certain it will qualify for full rego, the last thing you would want is to find that you have put all the work in and can't even enjoy it how you want. I am a hot rod fanatic too and pretty much all hot rodders steer clear of building chassis from scratch and just modify the likes of the early hilux's etc. I know hear in NSW its basically a dead cause building on from scratch for full rego so other chassis are just modded. I believe its something along the lines of the two main rails and atleast one crossmember must be standard to comply. Anyway, seems your taking the perfect approach with the holden gear. Check out the www.ozrodders.com forums if you haven't already, some awesome info on there, great guys, and I am sure they would love to see/hear about your project and be able to help wherever necessary. 10. "whats the car goin to be used for??" Well I want to be able to drive it on the road which is my main priority, but at the same time I want learn to race properly in it, and doing every track day I can, aswell as motorkhanas etc. I would love to be able to enter the car into tarmac rally, and even more so targa tassie, but that'd be after the whole car has been revised to suit, although I doubt it will happen due to rulings. "I put beams to my carina 2004-2005 and it was really hard to find wirings. Now it´s done and works fine." I am pretty sure I have seen your car, and I must say its an awesome beast if it is the one I am thinking of. Yeah I am gonna be in a little bit of a mess with the wiring, I have the standard loom coming with the engine but even then its still gonna be an effort. My brother is an electrician luckily and has wired a fair few cars aswell so that will hopefully help out. Although did you happen to find a decent wiring diagram by any chance? "And titanium valve springs... or was it seats? " its springs, actually it could be both. although the valve springs are going to be upgraded pretty quickly. Peachey
  11. What do you mean by "what does it have?" I am guessing somethign along the lines of this is what you were after. 210BHP,210nm(something around that), 11.5:1 CR, dual VVTi, 6 speed box. Is this the kind of stuff you meant? Yeah I will be putting a fair bit of money into this corolla, but keep in mind, most work will be done by myself and with the help of family of friends so thats a big money saver to start. Body work, respray, engine conversion are all basically free, apart from the parts that are required. Interior will be virtually standard, but when I can find the right parts will be upgraded with better parts, along with a basic stereo system, Hilux diff, brakes(from other cars), coilover conversion gear for front and rear suspension upgrade and a few other bits which I will be making myself and/or fitting myself. Obviously this has been quite simplified but yes I love this car, and I have been wanting to do one for a very long time, but think of it this way, I could pump a hell of lot more into other cars with lesser results. Basically to begin with, the only things that are really gonna be costing money is the parts, a little bit of fabrication of some parts I wont be able to do myself, basic retrim, and a few other odd little bits here and there. And then once this is sorted, the money starts to dry up much more when it comes to starting to do things up. Peachey
  12. No worries, pics should be up pretty soon, its been a little bit hard lately, I am working whenever there is light although I have a couple of weeks holidays starting this week so I will have some posted ASAP, also hopfeully get a fair bit done, sadly my engine hasn't hit down yet.
  13. Did I say something wrong? 45 views and not a single reply.
  14. Well I started noticing the rear of the KE30's, for some reason they straight away appealed to me. I have always been a fan of small, old school RWD's and these just kept growing on me. I bought a KE30 about 4 years back after trying to find a nice one for ages, and ended up settling for a fixer upperer. Always, been a fan of the other KE/old school rollas but KE30's will always be my favourite. Sleeper style KE10's always do it for me aswell. Peachey
