  1. Hey guys, I am currently in the throws of putting a 7k into my KE55. i bought the 7KEFI from the wreckers its came out of a townace that had only done 100,000kms lol! Anyways... I bolted the the old 5k engines flywheel and used the clutch to marry up with the K50 box i am using and everything bolted up fine. The issue now is I'm trying to put the starter motor from the 5k on and it seems to hit the side of the block? Does the 7k starter motor have to be used? Also i didnt change the "Engine/Gearbox" squash plate from the 7k to 5k.. would that be it? they didnt look any different. Cheers Grant.

  3. Haha fair enough. So at the moment I'm waiting on some good consistent weather to start pulling out the 5k and box from the old KE30 including the exhaust. At my parents place we have a massive shed however my Father is using it at the moment on his Pajero head rebuild.. so the shed is a no go for alteast another month or 2. I'm thinking that weather permitting I will be able to get the engine out on the lawn with the help of some stands and the engine crane. Once ive done that ill do the same to the KE55 removing the 4KC and 4 speed. I have sooo many spare parts.. 2 engines 2 K40's carbies, starters, alternators, you name it. cheers

  7. Hey guys, Been awhile since I've updated this so thought I'd throw something up. As some or all of you know i bought a KE55 from a member here that had no rust and fresh paint, with the intentions of converting some stuff from my KE30 over as the 30 is rusting bad. I then got a bit "over" the project and just tried to sell the lot. For whatever reason no one wanted to buy the cars... so now ive decided to keep them and continue with my original idea. Found some motivation lately and did a fair bit of work to the KE55 over the last week. Here is a list of what needs to be done.. and what has been done. Swap in 5K and 5Speed - In progress Swap in Steering Rack (due to not having key and being siezed) - Completed Swap in Door locks - Boot completed, doors in progress Swap front and rear KE30 bumpers - Completed ( person had put weird non corolla bars on that looked shit) Swap rear tail lights KE30 - Completed Swap Globe rims - Completed Spray behind grill Window Tint - In progress Lower car - In progress Jdm Mirrors - In progress ( anyone have some for sale?) Chin Spoiler - In progress ( anyone have some for sale?) Probably some more things i need to do but can't think of them. Heres a pic of what she looks like now.
  8. pretty good turn out. I didnt actually get to meet any rollaclub people... maybe someone should sport a banner or something so we know who is who? My car was Ro11a. I love the look of the coupe with the flares XXR rims etc... very nice.

  10. hey mate, I just recently did the same conversion, You need the upper alternator adjust bracket off your 3k engine and the alternator itself... the bottom bracket is the same. should bolt straight up otherwise. You will need to take the fan and pull off the engines to get the upper bracket out as its bolt is behind that. Cheers Grant
  11. Hey guys, I finished putting my 5k engine into my KE30. I've used the 5k Carby its bigger then the 3k. problem is there is a whole heap of vac lines off the 5k carby compared to the 3k. Now i've blocked off most of them except 1 that is making me scratch my head. The lines runs off the passenger strut tower side of the carby and according to the haynes manual could be a "TP line" This line is sucking air like crazy. you can hear it suck when its disconnected. However if i block it the car runs worse they idle spatters etc. With the line off the car seems to run ok. Id still like to know where i am supposed to plumb this line?? Any ideas? Second. My fuel tank seems to be pressurising and pushing fuel through the fuel filter when the car is not on. It is filling up the carby bowl. Once i open the fuel cap the pressure disperses and it stops flowing. I never had this issue with the 3k. Is there something that maybe i don't have connected... like a VAC hose somewhere? Any hints would be great. Thanks Grant
  12. So i basically need to run 0 offset with some 195/50/r15 and get the guards rolled? is that what most do to run 15x8? Will 15x7 run flush? or could i run 15x7 front 15x8 rears or something? sorry I'm not very good when it comes to offsets etc. Cheers Grant
  13. Hey guys ive got a quick question. What would be the maximum width rim i can run on a standard ke30. imgoing to put some 15's on and i know i can ran 195/50/r15 i was hoping to find some superlite 15's or watanbe 15's but i think they all might be 15x8 will they fit? Cheers Grant
  14. Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone has found a place to get rebuild kits for k50 ke70 gearbox's? I'm in the throws of recoing my one and need new bearings gaskets etc. syncros are fine however. I rang a local bearing shop they said they could match the bearings if i took individual samples to them... but ive heard of kits that supply all i need. in melbourne prefered. Thanks Grant
