  1. Hello all.

Have recently sent my xt130 spindles off to the wizards at shockworks in Monbulk Victoria.

Its an odd setup but I will explain now :-)

I have purchase a set of Ae86 coilovers from them.

The front end is getting the Ae86 adjustable coilovers with a 6kg spring, ke70 internal valving and is being topped by a s13 silvia adjustable camber top (as they almost fit directly into the ke30 three bolts tops ;-) ). 35mm roll centre adjusters are also being used as the car has been lowered 3 inch ( mistake on my part, but I don't want to get rear springs reset again).

For the rear I am sticking with the leaf springs but they have been reset 2 inches lower and have had a "anti tramp" leaf fitted to the top of the spring pack.

I will be using the rear ae86 shock from the coilover kit, minus the coilspring and spring seat, as early (I think) Ae86 came with a separate shock and rear spring.

Have purchased new ball joints and now all that is need for the suspension is caster rods.... Now I know the adjustable ones are a wank, but I'm not planning on building another car anytime soon so will purchase some and go all out. I am open to charity if anybody has some cheap or free ;-)

Got some ZMA Suzuki Quasar Grey to paint my wheels, grille and small bits. Was planning on painting the whole car in this colour, but my wifes car is already this colour and is a bitch to keep clean and scratch free.

Will post some pics when the coilover porn gets back from shockworks and will post some more of the body when tI get sent some.

  2. Either do the work yourself, or find a good mate/ skilled family member to do it for you.

Talking to a bloke who did a fairly idifficult engine conversion, he told me that he got a few mates to help him out.

Even with his mates doing the work, he was charged $2500 to do a harness, $2000 to weld manifold, ect.

If these were done diy, would have probably cost $200 to do a harness and $250 for materials for a manifold.

When I was looking to get my car seam welded, tunnel welded in and all the engine/gearbox mounts done i was qutoed $10-$15k by a place in sydney. Lucky my uncle is a welding wizard otherwise my project would have been scrapped.

  3. Hey all.

Have seen a few pics on google/ facebook of ke30/ke55s with mirrors mounted on the a pillar where it meets the door.

I assume they are ke70 mirrors with interal adjuster knobs, but they seem to be way to big, to the point the window would need to be narrower to fit the mirror.

Has anybody on here tried to fit these and been successful?

  4. Things have slowed down quite a bit with the car being away getting welding done.

Finished the spare wheel well sub box and have bought all the parts i need to finish the car minus the coilovers, tyres, carpet, rubber door seals and tailshaft.

So when car is back i will 2pac under the bonnet and the interior. I will be stone guarding the underside of the car and I will then be able to start putting all the parts together. I will now be painting the engine and gearbox hugger orange as polishing everything aluminium is a painful bo ring task and I'm over it.

  5. Yeah. Mate. I already cleaned and wire brushed all the seems... hes just gotta quickly hit them with a wire brush to knock off the surface rust and smash a bead down them. I'm still paying him just at mates rates :-) haha.

Hes so keen to fo it as he bough all these machines back in the day but hasnt used them for soo long. So hes happy to be able to get back into welding and get his skill level back up again. What better a way then a car that sorta falls in your lap :-)

  6. Also I have a 7 inch screen getting installed in the tunnel for back seat passengers, as the angle the dash sits means no one but the driver will see the screen.

The whole car is being seem welded while away as my uncle said it would only take him half an hour to smash welds down all the joins.

  7. Hey all. Long time no update.

Car is still away getting things welded.

But in the mean time I have built myself some projector headlight.

I have worked out a way to fit some spot lights in the standard indicator sport and have purchased all parts to build a stainless 2.5 inch exhaust.

The polishing is coming along ok and I'm doing about 2 hours a day so its not so monotonous.

  8. Hey all.

The corolla has gone to Cooma to get a huge amount of welding done.

I attempted it myself, but as I am new to welding I have sent it to my Uncles house to get welding done.

Fuel tank is being modified for Honda pump and sender unit, transmission tunnel is being modified and welded in, seat rails are being modified, the body is being seem welded and the exhaust is being fabricated from stainless with magnaflow straight through mufflers And all for a couple of hunder dollars :).

    Pictures to follow.

  9. Btw, when I cut out the corolla floor so the s2000 tunnel becomes the under side of the car, I have left the ke30 floor braces in place to keep the strength in the floor.

So underneath the s2000 tunnel will be nothing but the factory structure. Will look a bit odd but its the only way I can think to run this tunnel and keep the car from flexing. I am open to other suggestions or ideas on the matter. So fire away :-D

  10. Hello all.

In my quest to have a massive audio/ visual system that fits my car without taking up too much space i have decided to use the factory dash location to mount a centre speaker for my dvd unit.

In looking at all the 5x7 and 6x8 speakers on the market and hearing they are not much good and relatively pricey for their odd form it also occured to me that i would need to wire the one speaker to either my left or right front headunit channel. So not a real centre speaker then :( I then found some small mono amps (bout the side of a couple of match boxes) but they are only available in japan and cost ALOT of money to not only buy but then import.

So instead of speanding $400 on new gear, I have dug up a pair of competition pioneer 4 inch splits i had in my Ignis Sport.

My plan is to make a rectangle mdf panel approx 4 inches wide by 10 inches long and cut a hole for each of the speakers. With this setup, i can then run a four inch speaker off my front right and front left headunit channels. With two separate drivers right next to each other it will sort of work like a psudo centre channel where the speakers are mounted so close to each other the spilt in left to right sounds will be very difficult to hear.

    Pics to come.

Ive also decided to make my own projector headlights. I bout a bi-xenon hid projector kit from ebay and will be buying a set of raybrig 7 inch headlight housings to modify.

  11. Hello all.

I recently purchased a recod 2 speed toyoglide for my 1976 ke30 sedan.

Fitted up all good until I tried to connect tail shaft.

It seems my old gearbox and tail shaft have 19 tooth spline, whereas the new gearbox has a 15 tooth spline.

Help in this mater would be greatly appreciated.

  12. My front brakes looked huge by them self but inside the wheels they look tiny. Oh well

Test fitted rear wheels on car. Have found ill need to flare the rear guards about an inch. Shouldnt need to add any material as I'm hoping that a bit of heat and hammer and dolly will flare it out ok.post-16294-0-93203000-1396265331_thumb.jpgpost-16294-0-90224600-1396265447_thumb.jpg

Lastly, I have polished the lips on all the wheels. They were badly damaged on two of the wheels and the one in the pic was the worst. So they came up good.
