  1. Hey mate.

So shockworks built these as a bit of a bitsa for me.

    Purchased along time ago however.

They are S13 silvia top hats, on an ae86 shock kit with ke70 internal shock valving.

Rear shocks slighty softer then normal shockworks items as they are being used with the original leafs and not ae86 coils.

I also optioned to get the rca kit aswell cause they threw it in for $80.

They are a superb company to deal with and also did the welding on the xt130 spindles that are fitted.

Hopefully the best handling car in the land!!! So much spent on suspension and braking.

Still have to repaint the blue bits orange, but untill i can find a cheap powder coater they will remain blue. Might be nice to have a bit of contrast to all the orange and silver.

  3. Certain suburbs in western sydney.

Because in a few of them if you wear an Australian army uniform down the street to do chores certain people spit on you. Enuff is enuff. Should be proud to wear this in public and not scared somebody is gunna assult you!!!

  4. Hey 4age.

Dunno if the above user you want to reply to you issl active so ill answer your question for you.

The new legislation contradicts itself, but mine and my engineers interpretatiin is this......

The government road people would ultimately like to you leave your car stock without modification, HOWEVER if you do see the need to modifiy your suspension components then they take the standard track of the car PLUS 25 mm per axle/ 12.5mm per side,  HOWEVER if you use non standard axle components ie diff, control arms, struts, etc from another model of car, THEN add the 25mm to the donor cars overall track.

Ie i have a ke30 with corona hubs, struts, hilux diff etc...   So the front of my car must be corona track PLUS 25mm, but the rear of my car must be hilux track PLUS 25mm.

It also states to a degree its the signatorys descretion on what passes and what does not.

I will provide a link for you tomorrow so you can wade/ swim through the bullshit that is the light vehicle mods manual.

    Regards mac

  5. Hey mate. Look up my ke30 f20c conversion in the members rides area.

Most the gear I have will fit ke70/ae86 and has been a custom bitsa job done in my garage ( mostly)

Will post more info if you are interested.

    Regards mac

  6. There is the legendary TOM's 3k-R engine from 1972 that reportedly produced 180+hp at 9500 rpm. Extremely rare engine however

Supposedly the rolla race car they were strapped to was only 700ish kg and could do the quarter in high 11s. Ill post a link later if anybody is interested in reading about one of the rarest toyota engines produced....

    Regards mac

  7. Hey all.

Been going to Sydney motorsport park quite a bit lately as my young son loves racecars.

Last few weekends there has been a bloke out there with a white ke30 fastback with a rotary in it. Last time out he was having gearbox issues however.

Last weekend there was also a blue ke30 with a rotary absolultely dominating all the other cars at the track. Had NSW plates that read along the line of BRRRP or similar. Very tidy and straight car!

Heres a vid I made of it if anybody wishes to have a look.

Anybody else frequent eastern creek with their rolla as these are the only two I have seen out there in some time. Seems all the others are kept away in their garages never to be driven at the track. For the number of them produced and the imcreasing rarity of rx3, etc I have expected to see many more old rollas making the track rounds. But to this day nothing.

There still appears to be heaps of guys on here putting alot of time and effort into engines swaps and performance builds, but they seem to end up being trailor sailors and show queens instead of track monsters :-(

Hope to see more lads with flash corollas at the track soon

    Regards mac

  8. Hey all.

I had one of my ke30s insured with Shannons and it got rear ended. It was in ok condition and was for an agreed value of $3700.

When the repairer said its not worth repairing (not written off as Nsw write off register only goes back 20 years or so says the Shannons guy) I got the car back and got $$3500 in my pocket. The $200 I didnt get back paid out my policy.

Shannons then told me that when its repaired to a decent standard they will comprehensively insure the car again!!!!

    WINNING.

They said they would insure my modified ke30 for an agreed value of near 40K for $600 a year fully comp. Its got laid-up insurance on it now encase it falls off a trailer, engine get stolen from my garage, etc.

Ive got nothing but good things to say bout Shannons. Plus if you have 5 or more policies with them you get fleet discount :-D

  9. Also I been doing ALOT of research on intercoolers due to wanting to run an old roots type blower...

Air to air are great but in some instances air to water are better. Air to water however, are harder to setup due to needing a cooling core, a water pump, a heat exchanger, extra tubing and also coolant... Check out laminova cores if you want different some ideas.

    Regards macca

  10. The shiny ones work the best :-D

But seriously, KOYORAD are making some super sweet super thin radiators. I bought my s2k KOYO from the states shipped for $400 AUD. Ill see if I can dig up the sellers bis name.

The Chinese eBay aluminium ones for KE30 look ok, but they are very thick and ive heard of people having issues with the copper core reacting with the alumnium tanks, because SCIENCE!!!!

If you running 'X' engine try to run a rad same size or bigger capacity then the stock one. Also keep in mind the difference between cross flow and down flow, then also double flow.

    Regards macca

  11. In other news, the old green Rolla took newish silver rolla in the doot and has sustained some damage around the rear section.

A 90 year old bloke was on his mobile while driving.

Thanks to Shannons however, I got some cash for my trouble and salvage rites to the car.

Week later I bought my pops 06 vectra with 36km on it and a new p plater promptly smashed into the back of that one too :-( same f#$king corner!!!!!

The green thing is being shipped out to my mums place so the racing Rolla can move in. Will be keeping the green thing for my boy as his first car, but hes not quite two yet so plenty of time to work on it.

I will be filming the rest of my build and posting it on my youtube channel.

My mates have told me I have a video voice akin to Kermit the frog, but that aside, hopefully some of the new guys around he will be able to learn a few tricks of the trade.

  12. Hey all.

So there is movement a happening with the corolla. More out of necessity then want however.

I dropped the racing Rolla at my uncles sometime in 2013 and since then very little has been achieved ( life was happening around the corolla).

So shes coming back to me in the same condition as she went away in :-/.

However, I have a good mate who wishes to return to metal work and welding so he has accepted the huge task of all the Rolla related welding ( the guy can build a full trailer from scratch in a weekend).

I'm hoping when she returnes in the next couple of week that it will only take a couple of weeks to get her running ( without paint however)

    Regards macca

  13. Hey all.

I need advice on what door mirrors will fit a ke30.

I am chasing chrome DOOR mirrors but am having trouble finding anything that fits due to the shape of the door.

I was looking for stock mirrors but cannot find a passenger side mirror for a decent price.

The main problem being most "eBay" style classic mirrors have very short stalks and if fitted to the passenger side, they sit to low so the mirror can't be aeen from the drivers seat.

Pics of suggestions will be helpful.

    Cheers folks.

    Macca

  14. Hey dude. Sounds like a good build.

Is it possible for you to get an Eaton m62 off an old sl merc instead of the sc12?

Sc12 extremely difficult to rebuild due to parts not being available just like the sc14. Bearings being hard to get as they didnt release them aftermarket.

I was going to run an sc14 on the f20c in my Rolla but ended up geting an Eaton m90 for ease of rebuild and parts.

    Just my 2 cents.

  15. Hey all.

Wife has recently purchased a high tech printer sort of cutting thing.

If people want stickers are are running into supply issues I am willing to take up the job of supply. Will be doing test cuts with automotive vinyl after Christmas.

With permission from the mods I'll do the fonts that exist plus others.

Can print stickers up to A4 wide or letters that are A4 complete sheet.

    Will keep you all posted.

    Regards david

  16. Hello all.

Have made some engine progress. Car still away. Will be getting it back shortly as am tired of waiting for work to be done.

Engine back together and some bits have been polished.

Manifold is cut apart ready for welding. A 12x 5 x 2.5 inch liquid aftercooler is being installed inside the manifold to keep the intake air temp down.

Have worked out supercharger calculations and have had a Honda civic power steering pump pulley modified to get the psi of boost I require, which is 9 psi BTW.

Am hoping for 400rwhp.. But will see what happens
