  1. There is also a bearing in the back of the manual engine's crankshaft that will not be on the auto engine - make sure you get one of these for the new engine as the front of the gearbox input splines goes in there. Cheers Yota
  2. I really hope that's not how I get the wagon back, but it's probably what I'm looking at... bit sucky they found yours while it was still warm...
  3. might be worth a look - my brother in law has offered me his his old hilux for nothing, just need to look at how much it'll cost to get back on the road... no news or signs of the wagon - looks like I'll have to wait for it to show up in whatever state the theif is finished with it in - it's only a vain hope that it was a drunk needing transport home, theft between 11:30pm and 5:30am. it's probably moe likely being stripped for parts... keep an eye out for cheap T50s and wagon bits, people - I'd rather have the wagon back, with or without the gearbox still in it. Cheers Yota
  4. thanks guys, only thing left for me now is to try the wreckers to see if they dumped it at the drop off points, and keep an eye out for it on the roads. cheers Yota
  5. sorry, no news yet... unfortunately no photos of this car other than tailgate - not much help when identifying it. there's a similar one in the tradingpost for $2,000 (been on sale earlier than theft) if you need to see what they look like. mine is distinct with grubby handprints on the left tailgate and around bonnet from pushing it during engine install, and scratched from the block and tackle chain on the drivers front guard. passenger side guard and door keyed before i owned it. wiring for the towbar is on a flexible flat connector so it can go inside the boot when not in use... hope someone finds it intact... yota
  6. Littleredspirit - sucks huh? bewteen you and roscoe I got the parts to get it back on the road only last sunday, still with roscoe's rattly top end on the replacement motor, and it was running shithouse to boot... almost undrivable with any throttle until it warmed up. didn't even get a chance to change engine number on rego :-( did a cruise tonight of all the old dumping spots i know of, but no luck - tried servos for drive-offs too - only one close hit but unlikely due to the time, plus the ones they were talking about stole diesel - tried far enough around the servo for when it would have died just in case... more cruising tomorrow I guess, and hope they et sick of it enough to dump it without torching...
  7. Anyone in the Browns Plains area in Brisbane, can you keep an eye out for my white AE71 wagon stolen from outside my house sometime this morning? rego 753 JIK Why the hell anyone would steal a bog stock daily shitter is beyond me... still covered in greasy handprints from replacing the engine last week - new engine still has unadjusted tappets so it sounds like a Kombi at the moment - running like crap too so can't understand wy it would be worth flogging... damn, there's some c<nts out there... May the fours be with you Yota
  8. I had mags off an early gemini (unsure of year, but RWD model) on a ke30 - exactly same stud pattern - check which model gemini, as they would have changed patterns when the geminis went FWD May the fours be with you Yota
  9. Dashboard Restorations 6/4 Lancashire St Acacia Ridge 07 3273 5019 Last time I dealt with them they did dashboards, door trims, etc to original specs... May the fours be with you Yota
  10. Nitephyre, I looked around while I still owned this van... pretty much any KE70 or AE71 fascia will fit if you're using the instrument cluster out of anything other than the original AE71 van one. Main difference was the profile of the front of the cluster perspex (one was curved, the other straight). I thought at the time it may be possible to simply exchange the interior goodies of a tacho dash into the van one's shell, but never checked into it further... The only other difference was the location of the switch over the radio hole. I never found another dash that had the same sized switch or holes that lined up the same, so you'll have to relocate this switch with a longer wire somewhere. The good thing about the van's dash though, is that a standard DIN stereo fits all the way in, where it sticks out about 2cm in the others. Then there's the thing about the dash wiring too... can't help with that, sorry... Would love to see this thing again in it's current form... or swap it for the wagon I've got now (just doesn't seem as cool...) May the four's be with you Yota
  11. windows look the goods, just have to add curtains, or paint inside of windows. matt black spray paint looks shocking from inside, but looks like limo tint from outside- cos it's a van, you can get away with it too! :P
