That's fantastic work Cameron, and has helped me enormously, thanks indeed. obviously a 5K head is the best option for a 5K block, but if a 5K head is not available,........ Does anyone know if the 3/4K head can be planed down successfully to give the correct Compression ratio on a 5K block for a non-turbo application? Thanks pete
-
Thanks very much guys Teddy, by "pretty lucky", do you prefer the non hydraulic lifters? ..........And (everybody), does a 3K head fit straight onto a 5K motor?..........and if this is the case, do a lot of 5K transplants into K cars finish up with the original 3K or 4K heads?.............and does this change the compression ratio from what the original complete 5K motor had? Taking this a step further, by the vintage of original 5K motors, wouldn't they be unleaded fuel suited?.......and if this is the case, 5K motors with 3 or 4K heads could possibly be not compatable with unleaded fuel ? is there anyway to determine externally (by markings etc ) whether the head on a 5K motor is the original 5K head, or perhaps a 3 or 4K head ? thanks again , pete

do ALL 5K motors have hydraulic tappets? are 3K and 5K rocker covers and distributors identical and interchangeable ? were 5K motors standard equipment on any Aust delivered cars? when were 5K's first and last built approximately? any help would be much appreciated, thanks pete

Hey corolla nut , that's really good advice about drill holes and sikaflex...............do you know whether it would work equally as well on hard plastic dashes, such as my Mazda MX5 ?? Thanks heaps, pete

Thanks, got it sorted now, the Bosch is any 4K, the Nippondenso is 3K,,,,,,,,,,,,,now bought 2 Nippondensos for $15 each from a wrecker today, I got the Bosch for sale for $25 cheers pete

It's stamped on the casing as 9 120 060 827 which Bosch tell me is a BXT 1241 model (superceded), but they can't tell me if it suits a 3k or 4k or a ke20,30 or 70 or whatever I need a good alternator for my ke 30, and i was sold this as a replacement, but it's quite different from my (stuffed) Nippondenso can anyone tell me which corolla it suits, so i can try to resell it? while i'm here, anyone wanna sell one to me for my ke30 ? thanks pete 0413 133233

Wheel And Tyre Sizes To Suit Rwd Corollas: Kexx Database Incl Ae86
emu replied to seabiscuit's topic in Automotive Discussion
My KE30 sedan is being prepared for a bush/4wd sand track rally next year, and to raise the ground clearance , I've just fitted some lightweight 14"x 6" eight spoke polished alloys off a Corona, and fitted them up with huge 185 Dunlop Adventurer lugged Light Truck Tyres Looks fabulous, turns a lot of heads, and got terrific clearance, no problems turning handling bouncing or whatever, could even go bigger to 195's no probs. Cheers Pete -
Hey Kangaroosa, thanks heaps for your help,...........she's running sweet as ,now cheers pete

Please excuse my ignorance,...........I understand that the firing order is 1342, but does 1 begin at the radiator end of the block , or the gearbox end?? (I'm having trouble refitting my dizzy cap) Thanks emu

Coln72, is Anastasios' experience what you're talking about...........hitting the firewall? Can't the pipes be heated and bent enough effectively, or the firewall dented?
-
Thanks Anastasios, let's know how you go with the hammer!
-
Thanks coln, what do you mean by "shell"...............do you mean the engine bay? where is it going to foul something? Is it just a matter of bending the pipe/s ? Thanks for your help, ........Pete
-
Thanks anastasios, good luck, notice coln72's response above, not 100% sure what that means Let's know how you go Thanks Pete

Are the stud patterns the same on a KE20 motor as on a 4K KE55 ? Would you think an aftermarket KE20 ehaust header would then fit a KE55 ? I'd really appreciate any advice here Thanks Pete
-
I'd be grateful if a few opinions could be made here, on how much power gain you might expect by fitting a Nikki off a Gemini to a KE55 Thanks, Pete

THANKS GUYS, FANTASTIC STUFF !! THANKS FOR THAT FABULOUS SITE TOO ,TREV Cheers Emu

Got this sorted now Thanks Pete

ok thanks guys, just a couple of questions, how many different engine sizes between KE10 and KE70 ? When did they go from 4speed to 5speed manuals and from 2 speed to 3 speed autos? When did the hubs change from 100 pcd to 114.3 pcd, and have all wheels been 13"? Thanks Pete

Is there any written history of early Australian Corolla models/basic specification ? I've tried Specialist Motoring Bookk Shops and libraries, but can't find anything Perhaps someone could tell me,or show me where to find , detail on when engine and gearbox sizes changed during the progress of KE10's through to KE70's, and the dates involved, also when wheel/hub sizes changed, also when 2 and 4 door/coupe/wagon/van options were sold Possibly there's a web site with this info, but ,again, I havent found it Thanks Pete

KE 55's with 4 stud 114pcd centres normally have 13" rims of course, but I need to prepare mine for a sand track trek, and want to fit the fattest tread footprint that's feasible I can source some 6" ,7" and 8" wide 13" rims, but finding good used fat tyres for them is really difficult. The value of the car( $4/500) doesn't warrant new tyres and rims With 14" and (even easier) 15", fat used tyres being readily available, I'd love to know what make rims are compatible ,.....Coronas ? Toranas ? Other Jap's ? Can anyone please point me in the right direction ? Thanks very much Pete
