  2. righty oh ... when i shave the head what would be the right amount to remove in mm from a stock head? coz i'll be doing it myself at work. i found out to get a shave and regrind job was going to cost near 300-350 dollars and i can't afford that while I'm still in school
  3. does anyone know of a good place to get a head shaved and ported or can you tell how i could do it myself ... i have full workshop avaliability
  4. got a ke30 bonet 2day ... gets a respray on the weekend. also working on getting a sunroof from raven. picked up 2 4k motors today, one has flat tops the other has dished pistons. only problem is they're short motors so i need to find a decent head.
  5. er... well i'm rebuilding a 4k and it doesn't have flat tops, its got dished pistons, what will hapen there? ... also what is a head off a 4k with dished pistons like on a motor with flat tops?
  6. 7. i've heard that the 3k has flat top piston so the chamber is in the head where as the 4k has dished pistons so the chamber is in the piston ... does this mean if i put a 3k head on a 4k i will lose lots of compression.
  8. i've used a friends dad and he's been a backyard mechanic for years ... we rebuilt my ke30 and everything mechanical either he's told me what to do and i do it or he'll do it and i'll watch so next time i can do it (given there will be a next time). i find for parts my local sprints and parts boys (aka rite price) help me out alot as long as you go in when their not busy. the guys at sprints i find real good coz i walk in tell em or show em what my problem is and they'll give us help where they can. they also took $25 off a clutch for me cause they know how much work i've done to my car and that i keep going back to them for more parts. just a classic example of how you need 2 find the rite people would be, i went into autopro the other day 2 get a switch and they were going 2 charge me $9 for it and i told em 2 get stuffed. i went straight to sprints picked out the exact same switch (even same brand) and they charged me $3.50 for it. guess the morale is shop around a bit 2 get the cheapest prices then stick with them and show your face often so they get to know you
