  1. Hey mate, I'm currently in the process of doing a 7KE and W56 swap into my KE38, have you got any photos of the work you needed to do to the sump to make it fit? and have you got anymore photos of the gearbox mounts? any help would be much appreciated mate!
  2. So after a drive through Adelaide and into the hills I'm looking to overhaul the suspension and brakes in my KE38 in the near future! I've been looking at a few threads on the forum and everyone seems to be going with RT132 struts, is there any advantage of going with them? What parts would I need to do the conversion besides a coilover kit and RT132 struts and what would be the best shocks, Master Cylinder, Discs and Calipers to run.? Also what problems would I run into doing the conversion? With the rear I'm currently running stock leafs with 2 inch lowering blocks, I'm looking for what everyone else has setup theirs with? I want to run reset springs that are 50mm lower along with reverse eye leafs, short stroke shocks and an R31 or Hilux Diff. Is this a good setup? Keep in mind I'm preparing for an engine swap in the future (Built 7K with a SC14 Supercharger) and will be sitting on a set of 14x6 (maybe 7) and 14x8 SSR Starsharks Any help and advice with this would be much appreciated as I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to Rollas but am really keen to get into it and improve my beloved Rolla!
  3. Hi, I've got a 1981 KE38 Corolla that I recently put 2 inch lowering blocks in. Along with the lowering blocks I put on a set of 15x8 0 offset Rota grids. Once putting the wheels on the tyres only scrubbed on the passenger rear lip, I later realised that my diff was 5 - 10mm to the passenger side! My question is has anyone else had a problem with the diff moving sideways when lowering and how to fix it? and what is peoples experience with 15x8 0 offset wheels with 195/50 tyres on them? I know I will obviously have to roll the guards, but is there anything else I will need to do the guards and also How is the ride and is there still any scrubbing once all the work is done to make the wheels fit? Again I'm a newbie to Corollas so any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance
  4. We have 7.9 volts with the ignition on and 9.7 volts while turning the car over, this is at the negative of the battery and positive of the coil. Is this good or bad?
  5. I'm a newbie to Corollas as well and Dad and I are just going off what we know from working on Old Holdens!
  6. Hi there, I've got a 1981 KE38 that I'm currently using as a daily. Its a stock 4KC and 5 Speed with the standard Carby and Bosch ignition. It was running fine for the past month and when I went to go for a drive on the weekend it wouldn't start, it only turned over. my father and I diagnosed the problem to be an electrical fault between the coil and the spark plugs. we have swapped out the coil, plug leads and distributor cap but haven't had any luck getting it running. The problem is something to do with the coil, as we have replaced it and there is no spark between the coil and the dizzy. We have checked voltages and get 11.8 volts at the ballast resistor and 8 volts at the coil. We now suspect that Condenser or the ballast resistor may be bad. My Question is has anyone had the same or similar problem that would be able to help me out? Any help would be great thanks! Thanks in advance
