Cheer, although I already had the part no. Finding a set of stock new head bolts is becoming a pain (my motor only had 4 with it) How was NorthernNats mate? would like to go to some more Nats events but university live says DENIED I got you PM, Cheers

I've never really been a fan of double valve springs, but i'll look if they have single springs, where did you get your arp studs
-
That'll be awesome thanks mate
-
I forgot to put pics of the bearings, this motor internally looks clean as To bad the valves looks shit, but I can get new valves from precision international for about $45 total, 1mm bigger valves for both exhaust and intake would still be cool but pain to find The will be about 2-3 week pause in progress since I have exams in 4 weeks After that got a solid month and can finish this Also still trying to find some heavy duty valve springs
-
what i want is a Toyota Genuine head gasket, I'm aware there are others but I for one can vouch for the quality of the toyota parts, problem is my local dealer is out And I'm heavily considering ARP head studs...I know way too overkill, But I'm finding it bloody impossible to find replacement head bolts from Toyota (even if I get them I have to use another set in case head comes off again since bloody torque to yield)

Manage to get most of the engine pulled apart, when I get the flywheel and the Pistons, I'll be sending the block, crank, conrods, flywheel, pistons and crank pulley to HM gem engines in dandenong, Block the will be getting cleaned, decked, and bored to fit the 40thou oversize hypatec pistons and welsh plugs replaced, I was wondering if I should get the cam bearings changed at the same time (I have a pic or so of them) The crank, conrods, crank pulley and pistons also flywheel will all be getting balanced so no issues arise when spinning the thing at 7000 ish rpm Here's some pics

Starting to think no-one cares much for this thread but i'll continue EDIT: Also I'm going to backlog and edit my old posts so I can chuck on the Photo's I have
-
Well, i've had some luck Called my mate at HM gem engines He had a ES9000 available unopened, so basically the same as the cs9000 but it's not adjustable, it'll do fine, If this car was a dedicated track car/motorkhana I'd keep trying to find the adjustable one but since mostly a streeter plus club events it will work for my purposes. (Look at this piece of goodness...to bad it'll never be on display) Also my local toyota dealer has no head gaskets left for 5k's, If anyone has a new one or their nearest dealer has one, Purchase it and I'll pay you for it plus shipping and an extra 10 bucks

Bad News Rollmaster no longer sells part no. CS9000...Adjustable Double Row timing kit (Gears etc.) So If anyone has one around or maybe even second hand, PLEASE let me know
-
I've heard this going around but i'm not sure about it Apparently to fit a double row timing chain, I have to use an earlier timing cover also is the timing tensioner and guide the same width for both or is the one for double row wider (I'm assuming the double row stuff is wider, but having trouble finding them) Does anyone know where to get some heavy duty valve springs for the 5k

Ops forgot to ask for a Dip Stick

Say in 2-3 weeks Still have to wait for some parts to come in for the rest of the motor, I need this stuff when I put it back together so no rush there still have to wait for pistons, VRS kit, gasket kit to come in...once I get pistons I'm sending the block to get decked and bored, Since I can also send pistons, conrods and pulleys to get balanced at the same time...If I can get the Flywheel by next week would be better, may as well get it balanced an lightened when I send the block How much have you guys taken off a flywheel, I'm thinking 1-1.5 kg like for my 4k, but never though about how light it can go while being streetable
-
don't look at me I did not do it!!!
-
Forgot to mention, mine is completely munted, dented and self tapping screws are in it...so holes I'm only going for a coating because it lasts longer than polishing it... plus I fell in love with the chrome engine parts (rocker covers, timing covers), not to mention billet pulleys, when I first saw them at summernats show n' shine 2011, so with this chance to do the same, I'm taking it But thanks for mentioning
-
Going to need, (anything with * is me assuming they are the same between a 4k and 5k in case stuff comes off a 4k motor) - Flywheel- Oil Pump* (I'm assuming the pickup is the same depth for 4k and 5k as well, so basically it needs to be complete...I'll pay an extra 5 buck if you can shim the pump by 2-3mm)...send pic if you can.- Oil filter assembly - Back Plate* (Plate Between Block and Flywheel)- Rocker cover* (as mine is munted, want it smooth and clean as possible so looks good when I ceramic 'chrome' coat it)- The 10mm nuts which hold the sump (Only came with 4 or 5 so just I case I'll ask for 18-20 of them) Cheers mate, Of course I'll pay for them, Still need to order an electric dizzy from ebay
-
I'm thinking in a similar way but I'm just waiting for someone to confirm or correct me
-
Cheers, Dregs Also I've been thinking 10:1 compression but I've seen some guys run 11:1 compression (I assume static compression) what have some of you guys run (MUST be running in 98 octane)...I always use BP 'Ultimate' 98 octane How would 10.5:1 compression go for my 5k? with given cam (274 advertised duration with camtech)
-
Hey mate, Here is a list of camtech cams for 5k's, https://www.camtechcams.com.au/toy_4cyl_5k.html I'm going with the third one on the list Unfortuantely no real progress besides taking it apart and getting rid of the busted head stud...arc welder plus noob bogger weld = win...I'm far more better with acetylene welding and tig welding...need to learn to mig weld better and god awful at an arc welder Hopefully I can get in touch with @7000rpm for some bits and pieces, mainly nuts which hold sump (motor only had 6 on it) what I get for getting a motor on a pallet, and oil pump and oil filter assembly (both of which were missing), Flywheel, Backing plate (between engine block and flywheel), and I need to get an electronic dizzy But got caught up in bloody assessments for uni which IMO is complete bullshit, the assessment was worth 40% of subject and the exam is only worth 20%...what where they thinking, also taking care of mum, as previously mentioned
-
I tried putting the picture in the format you said with the gif. using "click to choose"....still don't work, I'll try on my laptop, My computer has windows 7 so that might be an issue Of course I will get the dizzy recurved (forgot the name of the place but I'll put it up when I find the receipt I'm aware of using washers on the engine stand...doesn't help if I don't have enough, but I have it on now, after uni tomorrow I can strip the rest down and hopefully have a chance to call romac BTW have you chosen a cam to go with? I'm going with Camtech CT003517(a)...274 advertised duration IN and EX, 218 @50thou, .442 lift IN and EX and a nice LSA of 110 degrees
-
It says there is a problem processing the files
-
Thanks about using gif. instead of jpeg, i'll give it a go I haven't had the time to send the head to head 2 head, for electronic dizzy I'll give a ebay one a go, I need to call romac, when I checked their site they have them but it said "(min order 50)" so I have to call them about that BTW i'm using a permaseal EM30 manifold gasket as the basis of the porting job, as mentioned before, has the same port sizes as a 3k bigport So far i'm having a devil of a time with my bloody engine stand...time for angle grinder to my holding bolt which are literally 4mm too long
-
Also anyone know anywhere that sells some heavy duty (or at least tougher) valve springs for my 5k, I've also decided to fit oversized valves but only 1mm oversize each side (because I know I can only got 1.5mm ish bigger with stock seats) Does anyone have the measurements for a datsun A15 valves and L series (so I can decide how to proceed) I do know the valve sizes of the stock ones Intake: 36x100x8mm Exhaust: 29x100x8mm ........Unless I can't measure things for shit
-
Well looks like i'm in luck with the rockers but I'm left wondering a few things because of it (I'll put up photos when I figure how to...stopped working since update) https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B098mboUw_dHRzJTVmkzTEl5WVk/view (should be a pic of rockers let me know if it works)
-
I'll try upload some pictures of the rockers (I did notice adjusters on them) and (since I've never done it) couldn't the A15 series valves be cut/trimmed down I'll put pictures of the head and valve as my reason why i'm replacing them...I did expect something such as this when I paid $50 for a pulled down 5k on a pallet
