  1. Hey guys, I've got a BEAMS engine on order and hopefully should arrive in a couple of months, super excited! But I just wanted to know about swapping the rear axle. I've tried messaging a few places to see if they will swap out the diff in the current one and most places have just refused to say they do axle work ( even when some of them say they specialise in fabrication and swaps) So just just wanted to know how feasible a swap will be. I've heard the ae86 axle is pretty much the exact same length and with lots of aftermarket support, that feels like the right choice for the least amount of work (I understand I'll still have some work cut out for me, but easier than getting a an axle shortened or lengthened) or would it be better to get an older hilux axle? Would you have any idea for specific make and model? Cheers guys
  2. Thanks guys. I've found some part diagrams that let me pick out the replacement hardware that I need, I'll probably come up with a lsit so I can replace them all in one go. Messaged Craig and tehy said they aren't getting any in soon, so bad luck but thanks Parrot. I think I'd like to stick with the gen 5 BEAMS, I've become pretty attached to the idea and I love the way the engine looks too. Plus, if it's too tall I'll just slap a big scoop on the bonnet if it sticks out XD
  3. Hey everyone, I have been making some good progress with replacing suspension components in my ke55 Corolla. The inevitable happened and I snapped of a bolt while replacing the rear shocks ( I got it out without too much hastle). But googling reaplacing the snapped bolt, I should use higher strength bolts when it comes to suspension components, do you have any reccomendations on where I could buy replacements or if thats overkill? Additionally, I am now able to purchase the BEAMS engine I want for this project but I can't for the life of me find any available for purchase in Brisbane or overseas that ship internationally. Marketplace is just as dry, do you know any importers who take orders for the like? Cheers!
  4. Hey fellas, once again I have another question. I know I feel like i am going in circles askign questions, but I have found a 20v 4age with a new t50 combo for 7k (includes lots of new flashy bits and I wouldn't have to pay for any overseas shipping) and seems pretty good for the price. It includes ITBs as well, which is fun. My main questions with this set up is would it be worth running carbs or paying for EFI and using a standalone ecu. I am learning about these parts still and I'm not sure which direction I should be heading with my research. If I go EFI, will I have to install MAP sensors and get a coil on plug kit? Or is it just worth sticking in a 4K and solving all of these complicated problems 😆 Here is the listing as well if you guys want to take a look. Again, thanks for the invaluable amount of help you have been so far https://www.facebook.com/share/1BRZWxYZb7/
  5. Sweet, thanks guys. I'll still have a few more questions to come but probably once I start sourcing some of these parts. Cheers fellas!
  6. Ok, sweet. I don't have any plans for this to be running anytime soon, so if it takes it time so be it! Yeah, KE conversions does a 3sge engine mount kit for the ke55 so that wouldn't be a problem. I'll keep in mind the differences if I source the transmission and engine differently. And I haev read about the master cylinder and oil sump needing to be modified so it doesn't sit under the crossmember.
  7. Would even a Beams engine be worth considering? About ten years younger and a lot more power. Just a bit lost for information around the diff and tail shaft but besides that it would be wicked fast. The US and Japan seem to have a lot available for import for not too much and a lot of them come with the j160.
  8. Hey fellas. I'm just considering and figuring out the costs of potentially using a 4azge instead of a 4age for additional horsepower. Would you guys have any idea if the t50 transmission would be strong enough for a forced induction engine? Barring that, would it be cheaper to just turbo a 4age with a t50 or would the added costs of finding a w58 (and the other necessary parts like the tailsahft and potentially a different diff/rear axle) be cheaper? I just want to test the waters of the idea. Cheers
  9. Cool beans. So if it lists it as a 4age t50, would that indicate that it would be the correct one with the slave cylinder on the correct side? Or would I need to be more specific in identifying which bell housing it has. I'll have to do some more research before commiting to buying one so I don't purchase one that useless and can't make my money back on.
  10. Ok, sweet! thank you so much for the help. Cheers man
  11. I think so far the biggest snag I ma running into is finding any transmission suitable for an engine swap. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places but the closest thing I have managed to find is a w56 manual transmission for a decent price, would you know if that would be suitable for a 4AGE or 2AZ? It's hard finding information and determining what will fit. But of course, if a T50 is what will be best then I'll have to keep an eye out.
  12. Hey mate, I really appreciate all the suggestions! I will look into the other engines you recommended. The 4AGE just has a pedigree that I love, but that's the tradeoff for an engine with high demand, low supply and whatnot. On a custom drive shaft, Is is the case that you just have the right ends for the end of the transmission and into the diff, then welding the right length pipe to each end? Just figuring out if it could be ajob that I could tackle myself or if it would be less of a headcahe outsourcing that to someone else. Cheers!
  13. Hi, I recently just picked up a rolling shell ke55, and I have plans to buy a 4age to give it a bit more grunt once its running. My biggest problem is sourcing a T50 transmission, as I can only find 1 online and none on marketplace. W series gear boxes also are expensive, needing lots of work and conversion kits for big $$$. Are there any alternatives or ways of sourcing T50 transmissions besides biding time for one to pop on sale? And what drive shaft and differential would I have to use? (I imagine the factory ke55 wont work, I haven't seen much information on it and have limited knowledge about anything connected behind the engine) Thanks so much for any help
