  1. Hey all

In the process of rebuilding my Smallport 4age, I cracked two Pistons, but I just purchased some 4agze low comp Pistons to replace them. Anyways I was wondering if anyone had a Workshop manual for a small port 4age, I've found one for a older big port 4age but would prefer to get one for my motor.

    Thanks

  2. hey all

Just had a look online but couldn't find anything, would anyone know where to get 4age ecu female connectors,

I've got a aftermarket ecu for my ae92 but I don't want to cut the harness so if I could make a adapter loom, it would be heaps better.

    Thanks all!!

To me it just feels like there's no power down low Like a slug going up a hill when at low revs, I've never driving a 4age before so I don't no what to expect.

I will hopefully be fixing the thermostat on Saturday have a new one ready to go in.

I've only been putting 98 in it atm,

i'm going to give it a full service this weekend and reset the Ecu so hopefully it might fix this

  4. I will take a photo of the repair manaul tomorrow and show you what it says.

Yeah I did but the engine light just continuously flashed in about 1 second intervals, which the book says is no faults

Yeah the engine was warm on the gauge the thermos were on. but I no there is a problem with my thermostats cause it takes ages to heat up and when on cold night and high speed the temperature drops a lot.

  5. hey

I bought a series 2 sx Seca about 2 months ago and I'm just going through and giving it a tune up.

I wanted to check the timing, so I checked the repair manual and it says timing should be 16 degrees, so I hooked up the timing light and found it was at 10 degrees. then I shorted the two pins on the diagnostic plug, that should drop the timing to base timing, rechecking the timing it was still at 10 degrees. The car is going into a diagnostic mode cause the engine light flashes when I short the pins.

Has anyone had a similar fault or knows why it would be doing this?

    Thanks guys

  6. Motor is nearly complete, just waiting for my new clutch to arrive then I will be able to put the engine back in.

The motor has been fitted out with the larger injectors, the balance shaft was removed, and my turbo sump was fitted and I put a new water pump on it. Also I painted a few things while they were off.

Ive fibreglass wrapped the headers aswell, they came up really good!!!

Plus I painted the engine bay, there's so much black lol, it's gonna get hot!

I bought a s13 strut brace, it was way to long so I shortened it it fits really good now!

Lastly I got my tunable memcal for the ecu, ive installed it all, now I can plug the ecu straight into a laptop and tune on the fly.

Hopefully friday the motor goes back in!!!

  7. It was definitly the radiator, the engine popped both its head gaskets!!, It was running a 1 gen subaru Liberty raditator, but i Think it was way too thin, I'm going to run a full alloy commodore radiator plus I never had a proper coolent temp gauge to read the temperature so that is a must have for the new setup.

  8. Hey guys haven't updated in a while. Ive done quiet a bit since last update!

I just got a new motor as the last one I cooked it on the burnout pad lol!!

The turbo setup is nearly done, once I put the new motor in it will just be a matter of tuning it.

The best thing about using this motor is the minimal stuff you have to do to run boost through them, I'm loving the standard 8.5:1 comp ratio lol! I've added some larger 42lb injectors, 3 bar map sensor and a reprogrammable memcal so I can run the standard ecu.

I done a bit to the front end too, i spot welded up the seams on the top of the strut towers, now that I pulled the old motor out I can do inside the engine bay aswell. Then I'll just give everything a coat of paint and it should look pretty slick!

I fitted some rear bolt on flares aswell, i was too lazy to weld on so flares plus I got the flares pretty cheap.

With the interior I've removed the whole dash and removed the foam padding on the back of the firewall. While the dash was out I painted it matt black, it came up really good!! Plus I added a push button starter, battery isolator. I'm also modifying the original cluster, I love the standard look, so I'm trying to interrogate a electronic speedometer into the cluster so I don't have to run a cable but also makes it easier to get the speedo to be accurate. Also I like red so i fitted so red led back lights and changed the dirty green cluster lens and fitted a clear one. Now the cluster is more visible.

I'm so excited I get this thing running and on the track. Thanks

  9. Hey all just abit of a update!

Progress has been a bit slow but ive done a bit with this!

I took it out to the drifts on friday night, damn i had fun!! Went through a few sets of tyres!! But i had a few problems with the steering, but it came down to me not wheel aligning it when i put the suspension in haha!

Since then ive done a bit, with the front end i removed the old single pot callipers and i replaced them with s15 4pot callipers and redrilled discs. I fitted longer wheel studs and have 10mm spacers. Also new lower ball joints and sway bar rubbers!

New steering wheel, the one i had was 330mm, i found that too small, so i upgraded to a 350mm, it feels alot better!

Ive started making the turbo exhaust manifolds using steam pipe, there so easy to use, if i ever make manifolds again i will definitely be using them!! One side is done and it looks awesome! can't wait to finish the other!

I also remounted the engine, originally it was solid mounted! That was a fail! So i bought some land rover mounts, i cut the original mounts of the k crossmember and fabed up some new mounts, the motor now sits further down and close to the firewall!

Ive still got so much work to do, and heaps of parts to fit but I'm taking my

Time and trying to do it right.

  10. T25 is heaps too small for thid beast!! I'm in the process of putting two t28s on my nugget!

Not a big process to do and pretty cheap! easy to make a manifold, for the ecu you can buy real time tunable memcals! And there only bout $300! 42lb injectors, which are cheap too! And a few other little things, if your doing everthing your self you could probably get away with it for a few grand!
