  1. Yeh it is, all my electrics are working tested em all today, now i am playing the waiting game for stuff to come back to me (just putting off sanding my doors and 'attachable' panels for paint) i do up a quick 'read me' type document for you guys and will get it put in the Knowledge base section
  2. I am almost done my conversion actually, well kinda, i finished my wiring today which was easier than i expected. For my mounts i used the spare set of triton mounts i hate laying around and cut the angled bit of the back plate then got some 8mm steel plate (overkill, but free) and got a guy with a tig to weld them to that so i could put my holes where i wanted. the rubber mounts i am using are cortina ones umm A1200 is the part no. they are nice and round and perfect thickness for me. My only problem so far has been that the bottom of the bell housing on my gear box hits the steering arm when its turned to lock, but thats nothing a grinder can't fix. oh the engine i am using is the 4g93t 1.8lt turbo from a gsr cc lancer due to local regulations 2lt isnt allowed. I am also using the calipers off of the gsr for the corrolla, mixed with re-drilled astra rotors and custom mounts it allows use of the original hub but give me a 256mm dia and 25mm thick vented slotted rotors with a few pad options. I have some pics of the engine sitting in the car and can take any pics you would like of various things like mounts etc etc just pm or email me. I also have wiring diagrams and basically a word doc of how to wire in the engine (got bored when on family holiday), I also have cad drawings of the caliper mounts and a new mount i made up for my CAS. it hit the firewall when i had the block where i wanted it so i'm mounting it off of the front of the cam and blanking off the hole in the head.
  3. Didn't think i would be but still not many getting around yet such and easy conversion, less stuffing around than a sr or ca so it would seem, and the 4age seems like more screwing around as well with finding boxes that suit and mounts etc. Also off topic, but i pulled the rear sway bar out of my r31 today and well it looks like it would fit the front of my ke20 perfect, and it has a dip which makes for better engine clearance and is physically fatter / more stiffer. any one know any thing about these? done before???
  4. yeh i got my box today, out of a GJ sigma its the narrow type looks like a perfect fit which will be nice i got it and the tail shaft for 150, am gonna put a button type clutch in it but so thats not a prob, got a flywheel just gotta wait for my 1.8l motor now bolt it in line it up rip it out paint put back in reassemble car and interior then drop some fat boosted skids!!!!
  5. Ah no i just tossed my spare rb30 pistons too, i have an r31 as my daily until i build this rolla up. Ah no found out today that the 4g63t is too big qld laws are you times the car wight by 2.5 for boosted or 3 for n/a and that the engine u can use. so ke20 = 774 on qld register(i can't remmem exact) * 2.5 = 1945cc thats exact and a 4g63t is 1989cc or something. so i'm going for a 4g93t now the 1.8..... do you know of any stroker stuff you can do with this using a 4g64 crank as i have one spare
  6. Hi, i am chasing a remote thermostat housing that has one inlet and one outlet, either i find on of these or block the lines unneeded on a ae82 one. Any help / advice would be awesome cheers!
  7. Yeh i was gonna try to get it engineered. Uh i can't remember but it is a very flat one with slightly offset pins i am gonna use the mount brakets off the 4g64 i have and then use the rubber bits from a barina on inlet and volvo on exhaust, havnt looked at this too much yet but looks like it will work. I am in brisbane.
  8. Ah no you steal my idea!!!! I thought i would be the first to do a 4g63t engine into a ke corolla only mines a ke20. (BTW 4g93t 1.8 from a gsr lancer wont work as its cam sensor is too big off back for firewall clearance) Yes the Trition, Sigma, Starion boxes all blot up infact the jap made mitsubishi engines all have the same bell housing pattern from about 70's till late 90's so its easy, you will want the box from a sigma but as the tritons first gear will have your front wheels in the air. I have a spare 4g64 engine sitting on floor that i sat into my rolla, if i could post a pic i would (don't know how) but the mounts miss out by about 10mm front to back, the engine sit back more. however volvo mounts yes volvo mounts should fix this on the drivers side, and a i think barina mount on the inlet side (had a flick through catalog) there is enough firewall clearance for your cam sensor yay for multi coil!!! ahh upload button shall try to put pics up, remem a 4g64 is from a triton but so it rwd set up hence the shit off the front and it being a little longer. Oh and you may need to whack the sump with a block of wood as the sway bar is about 5mm to far back, its all clears but basically rests on the sump so i would recomond a small dent or mod Oh and good new the box from a triton same as all early rwd boxes should should line up with the original cross member and fit the tunnel, assuming i measured my dads ute and my car up right! I am planning to do a FAQ / Tech write up about how my conversion goes... Getting my 4g63t intercooler, oil cooler, loom and ecu this week hopefully, outta a import RVR with a 99 model motor. Please note that all info above i.e. mount etc are for the 4g64 engine which is a 2.4 litre from a triton, the turbo is bolted to the block on a 4g63t which makes life a little harder. However i have not got my 63t yet so will see yet
  9. Hi, Haven't been on in a few days, but first thing i noticed is the new heading for the FAQ, when i first saw the FAQ i thought it was FAQ's about the site not a tech section hence my not going in there. And nice google php insert should make searching a lot better and less poo like. Awesome Pete
  10. yeh kinda was thinking something that had some more howto type things in it, but as i said i am new and well kinda missed that FAQ button up there and i have spent a fair amount of time looking around, don't i feel silly
  11. Hi all, I am new to this site and love the knowledge that is on it. I have found it however a little hard to source information via the search feature, being a new member. I have an idea on a section that could be added to this site, A 'Tech write up section' where experienced members can submit a write up on a conversion or modification, for example brake upgrades for a KE20, or 4age in ke30. The would be an like an online e-book where people couldn't post replies and to post an 'article' it would have to be submitted to a mod, where it could be briefly looked over for correctness and stuff. This way all the 'common' questions that are asked everyday can be easily found by new users or even longterm members. It could have its own link on the main page such as Tech writeup's or Tech pages and have then 4 sections depending on the model i.e. KExx AExx etc and within those categories sub sections such as brakes, suspension, driveline, engine conversions, interiors etc.. then articles listed alphabetically........ much like a library Just an idea but it would make compiling useful proven data much easier, Oh and pictures should be included in all articles! Things from how to change oil to how to install a motec system in to a ke20 with a 20v 4age, an indexed system would be the aim! My 2cents but i think the site would benefit from it. Pete
  12. hmm i dunno as the rears are 4 stud at 114.3mm which is wierd i have a second set of struts that came with the car, only they are just the struts, like the upper bits from above the ball joint and have no hubs, they do have the backing plates on them but, can i measure these to see if they are ke20 or 30's, thinking the 30's are on there now. also where would be the best bet the source some hubs and calipers etc from? cheers!
  13. Irokin - i think i may have the ke30 struts in there at the moment, is there any way to check? they are 4 stud 114.3mm so if i have ke30 struts i can just slap a ke70 hub, rotor and calipers on? thanks for you help, i have tried searching but there are not many threads with straightforward info in them
  14. Ah ok this is just what i have been told, hence the asking. I have searched a few places but am yet to find an easy, effective and cost efficient way of making my rolla brake better with what i would like to be bolt on parts. Any ideas or links, i have found a few bits and pieces here and there but nothing easy and effective. i would like vented rotors
  15. HI all, I'm sorry if this is an existing thread tried searching but very new here! I recently got a ke20 which is gonna get a 4agze in it soon enough. I am looking to upgrade my front brakes, i have been told that a strut out of a VL commodore will bolt (pretty well straight in a little work required) and that all i really need to do is put a VL bottom ball joint in to the control arm, requires larger hole. can any one please confirm or deny this? Links would be awesome. I have already put a brake booster and a 15/16 master cylinder in too. Thanks all Pete....(newbie)
