  1. oldschool corollas are few and far between with wreckers here in Auckland! I'm really after new replacement brackets than old stuff as I'm trying to tidy it up to 'new' condition as its my oldschool rota project :hmm: so if anyone knows where I can get some new brackets (the back bracket, front bracket with chrome ring, adjust screws, springs) then id be reaaaally appreciative :y: they're fitted well enough in the corolla at the moment and yeah the H4's make a hugeeee difference over the standard sealed beam bulbs, i love it!! (p.s In NZ Narva lights sell for $300!!!! hence why I got mine from the US)
  2. so i stopped to detach the lights from my KE25 on the way home and figured out how they mount in, but my brackets are a bit stuffed (being 37 years old and not had the best care), does anyone know a place where i can get new headlight brackets & adjusting screws from? :hmm:
  3. OK so I just got some headlights from the US - some H4 7" units to replace my old sealed beem lights which have blown! just looking at them I don't know how I'm going to fit them? they don't have a hook for the spring nor do they have an outer rim to screw in the adjustable screws that hold them in place? Do I just use the chrome rings off the old lights to do this or how do I fit these? (car is in storage right now so don't have old light infront of me) any help from someone who has done this would be appreciated! I reaaaally don't wanna have to take it to a mechanic/sparky :hmm: these are the lights here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...cTODAY.m238.lVI
  4. cheers for the info, had problem with net so havent been able to get on in a few days. will have a look over the info from both of you. I intend to upgrade the whole brake system, have also seen that brembo do a hub & caliper to suit but haven't yet had a look at pricing...I'm guessing it will be farely expensive! will look into these other options, cheers :P
  5. cheers anyway, will find the piece I need eventually here in nz I'm sure :P just spent today pulling those gay bolt on guards off and sanding back the paint for welding up the bolt holes. also pulling most of the outside trim off to paint & put new lense pieces etc..on to. hope to have car into panel shop after new years for some body work and ready for full paint
  6. would like to upgrade the discs & calipers on the front as well if anyone knows a good upgrade for a ke25? :P i had to just stuff around with the current ones to get enough braking power for a wof here in nz (certification) as the registration has been on hold for nearly a year on the car. I would just feel much happier with discs all around for my plans with this car. i'd rather get to the brakes now and have lines & mounting points sorted for everything before the car goes into panel :)
  7. Hey Guys, After stuffin around with the front discs & refreshing the brakes myself at home, thought id look at the rear drums.. staring off into space I decided I'm not really happy with the drums on the back, i'd really like to rip them off and put some discs on the rear! Has anyone done this to a early 70's KE25 coupe? If so any help would be appreciated with what would fit in there :) also i've never done such an extensive brake upgrade, I take it I will also require new master cylinder? what would be a good choice for such a conversion? any help appreciated! :P p.s I'm planning on sourcing the parts and getting a pro to do it so don't worry i'm not gonna kill myself! :P
  8. haha that they are :P heres a pic of the 2 cars collecting dust in the garage over the last few weeks lol will pull them out and give them a wash on sunday! having alot of trouble finding the front trim for the hood on my corolla though :)
  9. luckily the area i live in the performance/tyre/suspension/brake/etc..shops are all pretty much on the same road and only about 2km from my house...ive pulled out the seal cause its completely disintegrated and screwed, scrubbed down the calipers and cleaned them up - regreased the pot and put new pads in them and bled some new clean fluid through the system so they do have some pressure. will have a look around the parts stores tomorrow see if i can get seals that will suit them otherwise once its been in the performance shop on monday (its already booked in) i might take it across the road to the brake & tire shop to get the brakes done
  10. ok finally managed to free up the piston, after digging out bits of the gasket and finally getting that out. Put them all back in and bled the brakes so hopefully will be good enough to get the car down the road to get new springs in it. Will go to a parts shop and get new gaskets for the pair of them as soon as I can I guess. either that or will take them back off and into a brake specialist to get them reconditioned. Never owned a pre mid 80's car so was worried about stuffing the calipers incase it was going to take ages to get replacements if i damaged them - kinda need a car to drive around next week will my batty is having a custom sound install done
  11. Hey guys, Somehow this weekend I managed to get the cylinder/pot stuck out on the front right when was replacing brake pads this weekend. Now have stuffed the seal for the pot and can't get it back in. Tried using a GClamp but no luck. Would it make a difference draining the brake fluid or do I need a new caliper? the rubber seal is complete deteriorated. If so what sort of caliper/s can I use on it? Thanks
  12. For JC807 my series 7 batty next to my old r34 skyline and with the spoiler off sold my r34 to do the KE25 project and get a bit of extra cash to do a stereo (more like an entertainment system) upgrade in the batty :)
  13. Name: Jarrod (New Zealand) Car: 1971 KE25. Car has totalled 112,000km since 1971 - have full service and rego history. Motor & Driveline: Toyota 4K with a 26/27 Weber carby, 2" from extractors to 4" dumpy exhaust. running 5 speed manual box Suspension & Brakes: Compressed leafs on the rear, new shocks with chopped springs on the front (upgraded to Dobi springs next Monday). Brakes are standard as yet Wheels & Tyres: 13" Hotwires with 205's front & rear Interior: standard interior Body: Few changes here and there but basically standard. Reasonably straight atm, does have some bolt and guards which I really don't like. Has been resprayed in the blue below Other: Thats all right now, have only owned the car for 3 weeks. Hope to have it into the panel shop this summer for panel beating in a few spots, 2 small rust spots (about the size of a small coin each) to be removed and have the whole thing stripped back to metal for a full respray in a deep candy green paint. From there plans are to slowly work on retrimming the interior (getting a stereo as well!) and finally a s6 13bt upgrade is what i'm aiming for...or I may use the 13bt out of my s7 batty and upgrade that to a 20bt. Not really sure yet :)
