  1. hey all i need help was sold a coil and ignitor, apparently for my smallport. problem is - were having troubles identifying exactly what the 4 wires correspond to... we have every single wiring diagram and pin out diagram the internet can host in several hours of foruming and googling! apparently smallport ignitors arent supposed to have 4 wires either... apparently? do i have a camry ignitor or something? or should i stop listening to my mates who say my shit is wrong? can anyone confirm this? HELP!

  4. A combination of an uncalibrated tension wrench and/or, weak bolts and carelessness, has left me with a broken flywheel bolt for my smallport. We have managed to remove the broken bolt. Now what can i do? does anyone have any laying around? Particularly Adelaide? ASAP>? Should i ask for genuine toyota, or can i match the bolts at a motor traders. etc provioded they are high tensile steel and exact dimensions? Wreckers even? furthermore, should i replace just the one, or a whole set of 8, seeing as one broke, i don't want to take a risk with any others...if so, will a wrecker be fine or should i try source brand new? thanks guys
  5. i drove it to work and back yesturday which is an 80km round trip, tried taking it easy and giving it shit....and it didnt go through a single drop of coolant. One thing we can't get our heads aroun is it happened at full throtle, yet when we drive under heavy load/high rev it purrs away we're thinking definetely fuel.. but any other suggestions would be great. LAter today we're going to strip the webber down again and see how we go...

I own a 5K KE55, and last night at 85% full throttle into a 4th gear corner, I backed off and negotiated through, and noticed the car start to cough and shudder as if it were choking, or misfiring or it was starved, and proceeded to spit and cough and carry on until stalling. It wont hold a steady idle, revs up and down and carries on quite roughly, and cuts out. First thought was a fuel problem, so I got it going and limped it home. Where it would violently shudder and spit and cough until ¾ throttle where it would appear fine and purr away? Upon limping home I first checked the fuel flow as I run an external elec pump. All good. Lots of pressure. So I by passed the fuel filter incase it were clogged, but all good. So I checked the coil leads and all the spark plugs. Clean and working perfectly. I checked the rotor button, contacts and cleaned and checked the points. All good. Secondaries are opening and its getting plenty of fuel. Car still starts rough, revs up and down if foot kept on throttle, and upon letting go stalls?? Strange… I proceeded to dismantle the webber after checking ALL vacuum hoses, and with the help of a mate, we dismantled and cleaned the webber completely and meticulously, and reset the float level, checked all the jets, and replaced the gaskets and reassembled the webber nice and tightly to no avail. Same thing. Cough and spit and carry on until high rev/load, therefore no difference! So we checked the vacuum on the brake booster, as we heard sometimes it stuffs things around. All good. We are still scratching our heads and yawning as its 3am by this stage Now we are completely dumb founded as what the heck is going on with the lil beast, as we pretty much double checked everything again this afternoon, where, when we drive slowly it carries on, but under heavy throttle/load it purrs like normal?? Any suggestions or advice? Cheers

  10. yeh, we took the weber apart, cleaned eveything, checked eveything. We took the chain back to bring it to original timing today, and everything worked 100% again. So were leaning towards the exhaust suggestion? or the original idea of the secondaries.. Any other ideas?
  11. advanced the valve timing on my 5K by 2 degrees, but when the secondaries open, it seems to deadfire? Valve springs can't kee up maybe? *shrugs* its not the accelerator pump or the weber (32/36) itself, as theres plenty of fuel, and air, and all the vavuums are in tact. Theres plenty of spark too, as we have trialed and errord almost everything that comes to mind... we think... i need to post audio of what happens, but under high revs, or planting the foot, it seems to deadfire, or choke? And we can't workout whats happening. Maybe the standard valve springs can't take the load? Or what another mate suggested is my exhaust isnt sufficient to accodomate the changes, as I'm running standard ex mannifold? Any ideas or pointers from superior tinkerers/mechanics? Cheers guys

The first time i borrowed my dads car because i had a cracked radiator hose on a friday afternoon and i coldnt get a new one as it happened after 5pm, i was 19 and i was driving to a mates place in craigmore to meet for a movie and pizza night, and the traffic was heavy from gawler, so i went the back way. It was a 2004 Suzuki Vitara with lift kit, bigger wheels, bullbar spotties, kick panels, roof racks, rear racks, the works, lotta money spent, and i was doing a tad under a 100 down a dirt road i have been down a hundred times, but i was running a little late, so i was going the same speeds i used to do the roads in my falcon and was pushing a bit. I think the road was freshly graded, and i took an off cambered right hander which tightens up and goes down hill, the rear end stepped out in a flash, i tried to correct and ended up in the scrub in the left, hit a rock, bounced me, and spun me about 120 degrees back onto the road, and was now sliding backwards down the dirt at about 80km/h for a distance of about 30m, rear left wheel hit a pile of rocks on the side of the road on the right, and i did a complete backflip over a 4 foot fence and some rock outcrops and vegetation about 6 feet high, cleared everything, and began to roll, and roll, and roll, and came to rest on 4 wheels about 40m from the road into a paddock. All i can remember is from the moment the rear steppd out, to the feeling of sliding backwards took about 2-3 seonds, and the last thing i remember when i first flipped, was seeing everything in the car hit the roof, and then i remember waking up with the headlights still on, on all four wheels with glass and blood around me, looking ahead into a paddock. I don't know how long i was out for, but my head was thumping. I climbed out over the windscreen and bonnet and stood there fo a few minutes taking it all in. Then i had to ring my dad and tell him the news. The car resembled a sardine can through a mulcher. Now if i am in a rush anywhere, i suck it up, as its better to arrive late, then never.
  15. yeah I'm definetely interested to hear more. Do fill us in. I was considering a similar upgrade fo my 5K KE55 as a mate bought a charger off ebay (SC12?) and is now selling it fo next to nothing. Id love to hear abot your buildup

In a straight line drag between my mates 4K KE70 4sp and my 5K KE55 5sp, by end of 2nd gear I'm already half a length infront, and by end of third, I'm one and a half lengths infront, by fifth its not even a contest. Great little motor the 5K. Where the heck did someone track a 7K down anyways? My 5K was from Japan
