Hey guys...
Havent been able to get much done on the Rolla due to being really sick the last few weeks...
But its definately great to get back online and seeing everyones progress on their rides
But heres a few random updated pics for ya'll...
Interior door handles:
Sprayed in a red anodised dye with a silver sparkle!
Gauges:
Have relocated them to the driver side A-pillar. They were origionally on top of the dash, but after chucking the origional dash and smoothing/painting a new one, I wanted it to have a more clean look.
The tube that is used for the boost gauge was also quite large. I used some heatshrink I picked up from Jaycar and used it to tie both the wiring and tube together so it looks much neater.
Random exterior pics...
Now that I am feeling better, I'm going to get stuck into it big time now!
The engine is also ready to fire... Just need to pressureize (sp?) the oil system and put some fuel in her :D
FINALLY!!!
I just noticed you don't have front indicators!!? I got a mate who had a R33 Skyline and he got a new front bumper and it didn't have front indicators and he got a defect notice for it and he had to install new ones. How's the car going anyway? :jamie:
It still has a front indicator tho, Moe did you change the flasher unit?Hey fellas!
Yeah I had to get rid of them in the bumper man because they were fouling on the 'cooler piping!
My old man is a Transport Inspector in Tassie, so after having a chin wag with him one night, he said because the indicators on the sides (just around from the headlights) are visible from the front of the car, it is legal :D
Not sure if it differs in another state tho :)
Cheers, Moe

haha yeah cheers man :hmm:
Appreciate it!
Yeah 600... crazy huh... actually, thinking now, it would be around 7 years since I bought them (never used them til about 3 years ago lol) and the front 3-way 6.5" were $450 or so each pair!!!
Crazy how much audio was back then lol
At some stage I will upgrade...
But looking what I have spent on the car already they will do for the time being ;) lol
It would be a different story if I were being sponsored (like alot of high end cars)
-
They seriously arent low quality at all champ
Bought back about 5 years ago, they were damn near 600 for a pair... Wait til you hear it!
Everyone tells me Xplod are shit rah rah rah... But as soon as I show them what the system sounds like, they change their minds :hmm:
Plus, there arent anyone else making red speakers to match my interior ;)
-
Hey guys!
Thanks for the comments guys
Got bored today and thought Id take a few updated pics of Rolla Bus for you all :hmm:
Custom parcel shelf
Colour coded speaker pods/speaker grills
Rear seat finally in for good
Brand new tail lights
Tinted using a mix of black 2pack and clear
Boost/Oil Pressure gauges now mounted on A pillar (used to be on top of dash)
Pods have been colour coded and bracketing chromed
You can also see the dash in place, its only mocked up as it will be thrown out (new dash is getting painted at the moment)
Front end raised slightly to give me lock clearance
Is the same height in the rear (sits nice and flat) just shy under 110mm all round from bottom seal to road!
Random pic of airbrushed rear suspension arms
Wheelarch plastics still arent in, and didnt have a chance to clean it all before photos!
Enjoy...
More to come shortly ;)

How many people are going so far?!?!
I'm going to try and drum up a few southern Rolla owners (hopefully Shaun, owner of MYSTKL will head up with me  )...
Seriously gotta pull my finger out now haha!

-
So is the 1j going in the Corona?
Should pop over sometime dude!
-
Just the size of the rear speakers I put in the rear...
Much cutting was done :P
-
Why not much paint them with the car?!?!
I realyl don't think it will hurt man... I had mine out for at least 10months (car wa sjust sitting tho) and no twisting happened!
-
Update for Rolla Bus...
- Wiring is finally complete... Looks like I will fire her up for the first time hopefully next week sometime
- Custom parcel shelf is in (after a fark load of issues) along with rear seat
- Raised front end of car so I'm able to turn
- Grill and rear ganish is finally getting modded/shaved/painted
I'm still waiting on:
- Dash pad
- Other random dash plasics
- Interior door handles
- Door drims
- New window mouldings/clips
- Throttle cable/throttle cable bracket
- Boot install needs to be put back in (which I'm actually thinking of changing)
- Full Wilwood front brakes
Ill get some pics up Sunda/Monday fo ya'll :P
Also I am hunting around for a fuel filter... Does anyone recommend a decent one?
Cheers, Moe
-
Id be keen for this :P
By then the Rolla Bus should be finished enough to actually drive!!! :y:
-
Mookie Mookie Mookie...
WTF do you think your up to?!?! :y:
-
Hey Johno!
Was that rust on the passenger side?
If so, mine did the exactly the same thing and it all comes thru from the petrol cap!!!
Ill have a gander at mine and see what we did to overcome it (was long ago and can't remember lol)
Keep up the awesome work man!
Cheers, Moe
EDIT: had a better look at your photos and it is the passenger side :P
-
I havent actually looked thru all the months of the calender...
But I was more refering to a ae82 Seca :y:
Unless there is one and I havent seen it yet... Sorry man!
-
Hey champ :y:
don't give up man!
God knows how many times I have thought "f*** this" and give up...
It will work out in the end man!
Keep at it :)
And we need a decent Seca for the 2010 Calender ;)
-
I think the 4wd rollas are ae95...
Correct me if I'm wrong
But then again, if all goes to plan, Rolla Bus will be AWD by the end of this year :(
Thats another story...
Sorry, back on topic lol
-
Oh sweet...
Thanks for that Trev! I don't usually use the Bay much, but think I might have a go...
-
Hey man...
When painting the mirrors, I just masked up the glass and moved the glass around to get the paint as much as I possibly could in the edges!
I tried taking them out the first time I painted then, but broke 3 set of mirrors before I learnt haha!
Regarding the dash, it was because previously, there were other holes from previous gauges in the dash... When we willed the over, the filler must have distorted from the sun and make the paint crack!
So now when I get the new dash, there will be no holes, which = no cracks... :(
-
Does the guy do ae92 dials?
As I have done a ae92 dash conversion!
And how much?
As I'm very pissed that I may have lost $85 grrr!
Some of the underside has been detailed (suspension arms etc...)!
The guy who does my airbrushing is keen to set onto a hoist and airbrush the underside the same a the engine bay :(
I'm keen to do it...
But can be done later down the track!
-
DAMNIT!
wish I saw this sooner...
would have taken the whole thing off your hands :(
-
Thanks guys!
Now that I have parts coming in again, I'm starting to get excited getting it to a finished state ;)
JiP, yeah I used to use the Dodge for weddings, but alot of people have no respect and some a**hole broke the origional diecast rear left door handles, and trying to find a replacement is becoming hard :y:
Its not completely snapped off, but its damaged :y: And the bastard didnt even own up to it :(
And the other thing that sh!ts me with weddings is confetti... it gets EVERYWHERE :(
But I do like to do leavers dinners as its usually younger and seem to appreciate the car more!
Johno, the coupe must have been a special order, as most Fairmont GS's came out with a V8... But mine came with column shift, 250 6 cyl and bench seat! And brown as far as you can see haha, the interior, the duco, EVERYTHING  yuk! Who would honestly buy a completely brown car is beyond me haha!
Update on the Rolla Bus:
The good news...
- The dash and all plastics that go along with it have now been sprayed (pics to come) in a sweet 3 layered pearl!
- Rolla Bus stencils have been ordered (pick up next week) ready for the air brushing on the dash pad
- Door trims are almost complete and ready for pick up on Wednesday (they ran out of leather, so had to order more lol)
The bad news...
- The dash pad has turned out farked (lack of better word). When it was origionally a black 2pack finish, the heat at some stage when it was out of the car got under the primer and has 'bubbled' it slightly, which without sanding it back to the vynal cannot be fixed! I am getting a new dash pad on monday and mod it to fit (bit of cut and shut lol) then will get that sprayed mid next week if all goes to plan!
- The white faced replacement dials I ordered STILL havent arrived after 2 months nearly! Been in contact with the guy and still no luck... not happy! Especially when I had to pay in full... Phone calls will be made again soon, and the angry redhead will definately be surfacing haha!
Its my day off on Monday, Ill get some pics of the dash plastics and other stuff!
Cheers, Moe
-
Watty on here has a hatch (i think it is)...
That would be an awesome photo :(
And maybe if we can find someone with an FX as well... mmmm
-
haha yeah sweet as man!
its actually only a half day job in all honesty!
and shouldnt cost you anymore than 150 to buy all the stuff from the wreckers :(
can't wait to see more pics man!
-
Are you going to keep the origional dash?
Or going to fit a ae92? :(
I can help you out there if you want to know the secrets to do it hehe
-
:( I better get crackin.. lol
The aussie land marks idea sounds good. I just don't know where to take a pic. I'll try and get one in front of a tram just before it hits my car.. lol
I should make the trip up Johno with Rolla Bus so we can get some ae82 shots for the calender
Would be a pretty cool trip!
Meet up with a few of you other Rollaclub peeps :y:
