  2. Got my hands on a webber dgv of a 1600 renault ts for free!! Coming soon, getting rebuilt.
  3. 47.1 @3pm when I left work. In the rolla it was 59 degrees. Farkin BS!!!!
  4. 104 grind. Working thurs but give us a buzz and go for a cruise.
  5. Prob a few hours. Used some air tool with a mini buff/sanding disc on it. Made it a LOT easier. Could spend longer but it will just get dirty anyway.
  6. Putting together. Done! Stock carb staying on while running in then a renault 1600 carb to replace. Sounds lumpy as hell with the cam profile.
  7. Sorry to sound dumb (i do as ive always had jap cars and love them). What is JDM????????
  8. As far as i knew the original flywheel weighed about 10kg ??? Other than that I have no idea. Finished rocker & cam cover. I could spend more time but it is not fun. Shinny enough?
  9. I have always loved going to the drive in whatever car I had.
  10. Once I get over the fiscal crisis over the engine I'll chuck some wheels and new suspension on. Thats about all I,m plannin at the mo. PM me tom I don't have ur #.
  11. Cheers Haydn, yeah its waits. As crappy as it looks, got a few barrels. The engine is in two fresh looking bits ready to be bolted together but the workshop don't open again till the 19th. I'm having mad withdrawls. ;) I miss my stereo too. As for the carby option, I would love some advice/suggestions from people. Been thinking single sidedraft ? DCOE40 ? Is this a reasonable size. I have been told a renault 1600 downdraft carb is the go? Heard so many different options I am very confused as to which would be best for me?
  12. Milton's at peyneham, Got it to 6.9kg I think. That was the absolute max he wanted to take off.
  13. That is one BS engine, rad!!
  14. Used some special degreaser that was green and you spray it on. Leave a while and high pressure it off. Also had to get in alot of places with assorted sized scrubbing brushes. At my mechanics, I'll get the name of it. -Hot tank block, crank, rods, head and all parts -bore and hone -face block -grind crank r and r pistons and align -fit cam bridges -pin bore short end bushes -resize conrods -reco head -assemble short motor -Engine rebuild kit (pistons, rings, rod and main barings, cam barings, rod bushes, all gaskets) -timing kit with gears -oil pump -face lifters -supply and fit sleeve -springs = a bit over 2k
  15. 3K began to chew oil, valve seals gone, bottom end barings gone, few other tiddley bits going pear shaped. Decided to send it to engine hospital and have a makeover. I know, a 3K is not worth it but it is something to waste money on. Step one. Took out the engine. Took half a day. Step two. Pulled every thing apart. Send bits off. Turned out two of the rear cylinders had absolutely NO water flow around them, totally cloged with crap. Good time to pull apart it would seem. The cam was absolutely hammered aswell. Lots of uneven ware. Step three. Bit of a clean up and some maintinence. Went to town on the engine bay, spent the best part of a whole day cleaning but the results were not believable unless you see it. Getting there with the rocker and cam cover. Step four. Picked up lots of bits. Lightened and faced flywheel. Cam grind. Block is bored 60thou, decked, honed and has had no expense spared. Everything that came off the block is being replaced. Alternator, fuel and oil pump, dizzy, starter bla bla bla. Recond and tweaked head. Still have yet to decide and get carby, any suggestions apreciated. Step 5. Still to come, in holding pattern till the new year.
  16. Entertaining the thought of aftermarket rims. What size will fit in the rear guards when dumped. Thinking 15x7x195 40profile. Will this make it ????? If not will 14x6 be ok???
  17. Cheers for the info. The blinds went on thisarvo, Yay. And with much debate I have decided to go standard, whitewalls lowered thats it.
  18. Can you get much out of the 3k engine? It seems like a lost cause, tho I havent owned a car this old before. What sort of head and carb work is needed? Where do I get vanetians? I also need to source some badges for the sides as they have been ripped off. Thankyou for all your suggestions.
  19. I get what everyone says. I am torn weather to leave her stock. The interior and exterior will remain. The interior has never been touched. I do want to get some venetians and would like to know where I can get them. At the same time I really love driving and using all my cars I have owned. My last car was a stock Mazda Familia GTX. A 100kW 4age in a 700kg car is just so so apealing. I'm not at all a hoon but the 3k is heavy on juice and pings all day long. Especially with a couple of big people in it. I def. want to upgrade the brakes and suspension. ANy help there would be handy. Such as what struts, rotors and calipers on the front? Adjustable? Stiff leaf springs on the back? DIff? Also anti roll bars? Engine if it hapens will come last but I will be dumping it lower on some simmons rims.
  20. This is my new beast. 1974 corolla, 1 owner, all books, no rust, dead straight, 3k engine. Picked up for $1500. I have plans to put simmons rims on her but am needing some input to what needs to be done to get a 4age into it. Also what gearbox and what brake and suspension upgrade would be best for a track/road car. Help would be apreciated, or even links to posts. I have money to play around and want to do things right the first time round. .
