  1. Hey guy's, I am stuck at the moment. I am trying to do standard 4-age conversion in an AE71. So far everything has been going well but we have hit a serious snag. We have NO spark!!! Now we have checked the dizzy and at first that was the problem. Test revealed it was 250 ohms. So got a new dizzy from a known working car and it tests at 160 ohms. Smack bang in the middle of where it is supposed to be. Connected it up and still nothing. We are at a loss as to why it won't go and it is now giving me the shits as I just want her on the road so I can drive her again. (on a bike at the moment and it is bloody cold) So any ideas as to what to try? The engine we are using has come from an AE82 1987 FWD hatch and has gone into a RWD AE71 wagon. My brother-in-law has been helping me as I am technically challenged but learning fast. We have used a wiring diagram I got from here but is that a possibility as to being wrong? believe it is for an AE86 series but I was under the impression that they are very similar. Car is located in Queanbeyan if anyone has an idea or would like to offer a visual opinion and check. Just give me a call on 0407 253 415 so I can meet you in town. I live in Bungendore so would have to T it up! Cheers and thanks in advance MOses33

  3. Hey everyone, Kinda stuck with my conversion at the moment. I think I have a stuffed dizzy as I can't get spark or pulse through the injector's. Everything else seems to operate ok at this stage. Does anyone have a spare dizzy for an early model 4-AGE (1987 model) that they would like to part with. I have tried Pharley's and he is trying to find one but is not sure if he has one yet. Cheers Moses
  4. Thanks KENut, I am not sure. will try and get a pic in the next couple of days and post it. Will try and ghet to a cruise one day but family life keeps me busy and I do a lot of overtime. One day!! Cheers Moses
  5. Hey Everyone, I am a definite newbie to the world of corolla's but am in the middle of a conversion from a 4-ac to a 4-age in a AE71 wagon using a 1987 fwd rolla before I try my hand at doing it all in a KE55 coupe I have been given. 2 questions to ask. 1. Is there someone that can "chip"a stock ecu in the canberra region and if so what would I be looking at for this pleasure? 2. The control bit that hooks into the ecu on the butterfly's under the TVIS of the intake? I think mine is broken and need to find a new one. Is there a corolla parts specialist around that I could go to. (I am not sure what to call the part all I know is it is under the intake manifold and works under vacuum to open the butterflies better at the higher rpm under instruction from the ecu.) Should be on the road in the next two weeks and cost of conversion is expected to be just under $1000 including buying the engine. ( I know the engine will need a rebuild in the next 40K but that is fine as I hope to have the money for a full re-build and blueprint by next year.) Will post some pic's when I can get some. Sorry I don't have any before shots but only care about the results. Cheers Moses
  6. Hey Champ. I am in the middle of doing a conversion from a 4-AC to 4-AGE in an AE71 wagon as well. I am using an AE82 as the donor vehicle and am using the cable from it as it is longer than what was on the 4-AC. but it will depend I guess on where you have gotten your donor 4-AGE from. I had to take the bracket off and use only the rubber and two screws when mounting in the car though. Will have to wait and see if this will give me trouble. Currently modifying the exhaust manifold to fit and the standard throttle body on inlet manifold. Should be ready to fire at the end of the week!! Cheers Moses
  7. Thanks heaps for those answers. Went the 22R as my brother in-law suggested that it would go hard. and he had a mate that has one with box and everything. As I know virtually nothing and was given the car and motor for practically nothing (car nothing engine and g/box $500) I went kinda no worries. she will be right kinda attitude. Maybe shoulda tried to source some rolla experts before I made the purchase of the motor and box!! oh well lessons we learn. Moses33
  8. Hi everyone, I am very much a noobie to car's and know very little when it comes to tech talk. I have just recieved a KE55 1978 Coupe with the round lights and the square tail air vents. I am about to drop an R22 celica engine and 5 spd box into it but am concerened that the engine mounts may be too different. Can anyone shed some light on how different these are? Also would it be worth investing in a donor car for extra bits and pieces or just go down to the local wreckers and have a chat with them (not wanting to get ripped off thats all). Cheers Moses
