  1. If it's from an AE86 then supposedly not I had to get one to suit a KE70 AJPS have kelway ones that suit for not too much
  2. WOW man you're like a god! Buddy Christ is such a perfect picture! Can't believe I'm gonna give you info when I used your's when I was first looking at doing a 4AGE conversion. Yeah man you sure can I have a whiteline 22mm Front adjustable swaybar and 20mm rear adjustable. Only issue's are the following: The end links where they sit in the LCA's are on a crazy angle and haven't popped out but look like they would. Having longer Corona arms would fix this issue. The ends of the adjustable swaybar are like a big flat blade shape so I had to cut a rectangle hole where the swaybar goes through the castor rod mounts to fit the end of the swaybar through. The front Swaybar mount bushes fitted ok but the rear ones I had to get KE70 swaybar bushes for a 20mm swaybar as the AE86 ones must have a smaller mount.
  3. Yeah of course everything is interchangeable from ke70/ae71 they are the same car almost except for the engine and driveline which will still all fit. I had all ke70 rubbers and they all fit my te71 too
  4. Sorry guys been interstate for a while. This would be cool yes but as I've already said I've spent Thousands getting the 4AGE ready for my KE70 with a brand new adaptronic E420D and I wouldn't make half of it back so I'm just going to use it. Also just finding a 3T these days is fairly hard. Yes it would be awesome having a twin side draught setup on a 3T but really wouldn't the 4AGE with bigger cams fitted, injectors, pump, light weight fly, individual COP, CAS and adaptronic all custom dyno tuned woop a 3T? It's all good I hit up scotts old auto rubber as I got all my seals from him in the past and it only cost me $12 for a new one.
  5. Took this in for a RWC yesterday and boy have the Vic laws changed. The cost has gone up from $75 to $135 but next week my mechanic is going to be $165 and he says other places are going to be up to $500!!! This is for a car that already has rego and doesn't need to go for a vic roads inspection. They now have to have a specific digital camera that Vic roads specify and take photos of every item inspected and email photo evidence to vic roads. You then have 7 days not 14 like we use to to produce the car with all items fixed. They then take more photos of the repairs and send through to vic roads. So looks like no more dodgys can be done. Mine failed with flying colours! Failed for: All rubber brake hoses need replacing. I was like sweet I've got some S/S braided lines I can throw on and he's like sorry even though you and I know they're better you can't use them because they aren't ADR approved. Front brake discs aren't thick enough. This is annoying me cause I can't find the stock disc width for a TE71 do I just go off KE70 thickness 12.7mm even though they're smaller diameter. Passenger seatback loose. No issue if I can't fix it I got a spare seat. Both lower ball joints stuffed. Hoping my KE70 LCA's will fit that have new ball joints or I'll just buy more. Rear brake shoes low. The one that pissed me off the most though was my brake pedal rubber is too worn. Look at the below photo Yes it is worn slightly in the corner but come on for a 26 year old brake pedal rubber its pretty darn good and my foot doesn't even slip off it when my shoe is wet wearing worn shoes. Also I took out the floor mats and look at the picture in the floor pad. Stock you think? Oh and just for shits and giggles this guy driving in front of me the other day going mega slow.
  6. Wow I thought this was custom with the roof up looks gay but with it down I likes!
  7. Hey peeps! Was going on my usual youtube journeys and stumbled across a convertible E7 corolla it looks awesome!!! Video!!!
  8. I think you're on the money there. I've seen quite a few corollas (E7's) that the chassis under the front guards near the shock towers has warped and twisted due to the ultra hard springs people are running up front.
  9. Also don't really know its history any idea how I can find out? All I know is the person I bought it off moved over from England and was looking for a cheap car for $2000. She wen't to Melbournes cheapest cars and took a car to get inspected the mechanic told her what she was looking at was a POS and that they had a corolla they could sell her which was in good nick. So she had it for about 2 years and the mechanic shop had it for quite a few at least 8 years. It didn't come with any papers otherwise would have rung the mechanic that was the previous owner. Disappointed it doesn't have the manual. Oh oh and I think the taillights have been changed as they're very new. But looking at the car it looks like its copped a hit in the ass end. I was going to buy the JDM DX style lights for it.
  10. It doesn't require power steering no but the steering box that is in it at the moment is a lot heavier than the aussie delivered non power steer rack and pinion setup. This has the weight of the steering box and then two pitman arms and all the other steering components. The aussie just has the rack and pinion so sooo much lighter. In comparison its like putting 215/60/14 on the front of my KE70 from 175/70/13's soo much heavier to turn on the spot. This thing will live a very happy life I'm sure. I hate the shitbox drift style machine with different wheels on the back or redrilled 12 slotters. Engine wise would love to do the 2T but as I've already spent thousands on my 4AGE setup I really don't want to sell it off for half the price or less then spend double that building up the 2T. I look after my cars and am very anal. Only had 4 accidents in my life 2 very minor and only damaged some steering or a dint the size of a 10 cent coin. another I wrote off a datsun not my fault when someone pulled out in front of me. One which was my fault in my XR8 and had to replace the whole tub which taught me the lesson of taking corners slower unless you know the road. I don't really like drifting I'm just building it to have something wicked to drive through the hills on a weekend and do the occassional sprint track days not door to door as I don't want to dint it. Anyways pics from a quick wash and polish. Also I've chucked in a picture of my 4AGE that's going in. Don't know if the blue scheme is going to match now as my KE I was going to put it in had a blue interior. Engine looks a little different now with individual coils, CAS and painted turbo manifold. Spent lots of time and money on this notice I even sourced all the RWD water gear as I hate the idea of the dodgy FWD thermo housing being pieced together with all dodgy bits of hose. The rocker covers took me 14 hours to prep and paint. The lettering is anodised blue. The pulleys if you look closely I've painted the teeth face silver and the internal bits of the gaps of the spokes.
  11. Hey guys I've still got my original KE70 with the AE71 Xmember, KE70 steering rack, 86 Struts and arms, 71 pedal box and master cylinder. Got everything ready to drop in. I will need to use the steering shaft and everything from the KE70 as even the shaft from the steering wheel is different as it goes straight to the steering box. Can't see an issue getting any of it in as the 71 member will bolt straight in and then the rack is bolted to that. I fully rebuilt the rack with all new rubbers, super pro bushes and tie rod ends. So just need this to pass roadworthy and I'm all sweet to swap in my rack. Hope it passes cause I don't want to have to spend money fixing this steering just to rip it out. I hate how heavy it is compared to the rack and pinion its like driving an AE82 with no P/S. I gave the thing a cleanup and it looks really really good. TE278U you'll be the first to know when the motor comes out and you're only in Croydon and I'm in Bayswater so you don't even have to go far.
  12. This project is now dead but lives on in my TE71. Petes TE71
  13. Hi Peoples, So I've been building my KE70 for AGES and I finally got sick of it. I HATE bodywork so I've scrapped my old KE70 and here I stand. My all new South African TE71 with Rego just gotta get a roadworthy and change of name then in goes the 4AGE. From the outside she's just your plain old slanty front KE70 except with short bumpers and no black strip between the tailights. Inside and underneath it all its gets very exciting!!! How about some CRAZY South African seats!!! Annnndddddd!!!! A 2T!!! This thing goes pretty darn good and its only a 3 speed auto! It would easily smash any stock 5 speed 4K as it keeps up with my GF's 2002 2.0L auto Golf. With a manual box this would actually boogy pretty hard. The driveline is totally different with 1 piece tailshaft, bigger drum brakes, bigger diff and the steering is recirculating ball. The steering is actually quite heavy and the reason these people sold it as the wife found it hard to steer while she was pregnant. WOO lucky me. Its like really difficult to turn on the spot compared to a normal Keto. Hoping I can rip all this out and put in my rack and pinion with ease. Oh Oh and last pictures and the best thing I like about the car I have a factory black dash and no stupid wireless up the top just a din spot for me to put my guages. Anyone wanna buy it? AS IF!!! Talk about RARE
  14. KE70 Dave is on the money. Personally I don't see why anyone goes ridiculously low and then puts in hard as shit springs makes it handle like crap. I reckon 6kg front 4kg rear and then like a 24mm front swaybar and 19mm rear swaybar it will have no body roll and stick like shit to a blanket and you wont slide out of control when you hit a slight bump. If you're drifting 8kg front 6kg rear cause the ass end just bounces around and steps out cause it can't grip.
  15. Hi guys, I'm looking at picking up a TE71 with a 2T it looks just like a AE71 but has a 2T and bigger diff. I've got some concerns as I was putting a 4AGE into my KE70 but going to throw it into the TE71 if I can. If I pull out all the TE71 front end can I put in my AE71 Crossmember, KE70 Steering rack, AE86 struts and brakes with xt130 lcas, ke70 swaybar? Also will my ae86 t series tailshaft go from my T50 to the standard TE71 diff?
  16. lol Yeah I have a hard enough time getting out of them just sitting on the floor but like I said fun car so won't be in and out a lot. I'm not too tall either just 5'10 pretty skinny the seats hold me in just perfect wouldn't want to have any bigger than 32 waist.
  17. Cheers for the heads up man! She's going to be getting dark as tint and most of the time will be parked undercover so shouldn't be too much of a problem. But I will keep that in mind and make sure I got my sun visor blocking the sun on those hot summer days cause it can still come in through the windscreen. I could see they would get uncomfy after a couple of hours but this is my play car so I couldn't care less I also don't have aircon or power steering. The Corolla will be really impractical but its the performance and handling I want the most. My XR8 I'll drive on 40 degree days with A/C and being comfortable to and from work then the corolla for fun.
  18. Hey Guys & Gals if there are any. Yesterday I welded on the new ass end so have to grind it all now and bog it. Also going to have to make new panels where you can see is missing as these were rusted out on this ass end too but the rest wasn't as bad. Seem's every Corolla no matter how good when you take off the factory glue sealer above one of the tailights at the dual panel that it has rusted. So anyways pics of where I'm at now. Should get all the other ass end bits done on Saturday I hope.
  19. Hey man cheers! I came across them on ebay they weren't listed as brides or anything just 2x racing bucket seats. I just had a look through my feedback and can't find anywhere the guy that I bought them off. Just watch ebay and some will come up. Can even get cheap genuine's sometimes but very hard to get a pair they're all single usually if they're cheap.
  20. Hey guys and girls(if there are any) Got a fair bit done on this corolla in the last few weeks. The motor is totally finished ready to drop in. The painting and rust repair was the worst bit I was looking forward to. So I bought an air sander from ebay and WOW it makes a difference. It was just a cheap palm sander that came with a 6" velcro and stick on pad cost about $70.00 but hell it saves time. I got the whole cars main flat panels done in about 2hrs. Took me a Saturday from 11am till 5pm to rub down all the small bits like door jams, frames and all the little bits like curves and edges you can't do with the sander. This Sunday just gone I cut the whole ass end off and lined up a new ass end I got off another car and cut out all the other rust. Also trimmed the new ass end to suit by measuring the back before I cut it then slipped the new ass end on over the original then marking the inside edge of the new ass end when it was slipped on the the right length. So this weekend it will be welding up, grinding and bogging. Then hopefully the next weekend will be painting if I get all the other stuff done and the weather holds out. Here's a pic of my progress. I've cut more off since this picture. I cut a piece out of the wheel well and those bits above the chassis rails where the bumper goes through.
  21. Okay so an update to what I did on Saturday. I spent from 5:30am till 6pm on this thing. I drilled and tapped my intake manifold to fit the air temp sensor. Fit the clutch and pressure plate and trial fit the gearbox. Removed the chrome trim on the door jam of the back door that's riveted on. Removed those plastic black air hole vents behind the rear doors on the pillars. Removed all the door handles and latches. Removed the old fuel and brakes lines and fitted all new ones from front to back. Fit new rear swaybar bushes as the first pair that came with the swaybar were wrong then the 2nd pair I got were wrong. Painted the AE86 brakes calipers which I'll be using for rego till I put the FC RX7 calipers on. Swapped the wheels back to stock so it doesn't matter if they get painted. Removed the spirit wing and sanded it ready for painting. Removed the rear window. Removed all the door seal clips still left in the doors. Painted the Accelerator pedal as I hadn't done it when I did the Pedal box. Fit new drum shoes and adjusted the handbrake. Went to the wreckers for two hours getting Window runners, door handle and other small things I needed. Doesn't sound like much but I got finished all the small annoying things really. I need to get some injectors or get mine refurbished as they end that goes into the head the piece on the end has gone all brittle and is falling apart like the plastic on the firewall. Once I get the injectors I can fit the fuel rail and the engine will be 100% finished ready to drop in. Got to clean the gearbox and put in new fluid. Fit the front brake calipers. Do all the bodywork. Paint. Then its just putting it together. I'm going away this weekend so will do the calipers and clean the box this week then the 28th I'll get the whole body sanded. Weekend of the 4th get all the rust repairs done. Weekend of the 10th get it painted and ready to be put back together.
  22. That's an interesting read man. I'm definitely going to give it a try. My XR8 was using shitload's of oil and spun a bearing. The guy I bought it from said he took it easy on it and it was only just run in when I bought it. These were my pistons. I rebuilt it and ran it in by the book. Using mineral based oil for 10,000km's and not taking it up past 3000rpm. Now guess what a full sump of oil doesn't even last 5000km's Its a 6.2L complete fill I usually fill 5.5L then add 1.5L over the 5000km's. I'd dare say its going to do the same. So thanks very much man I say f@$k it I'll thrash the shit out of it plus its cheap to rebuild so if I f@$k it up I don't care it will be a lesson learnt.
  23. Exactly what I think people say oooh but they aren't real. I don't care cause I'm not paying $1500 a seat plus seat rails of $300 $3600 is too much for seats. Yeah Could be done easily if I blow this up I'll redo it red and black. Can get that same blue anodising paint in red.
  24. Thought I might as well give an update. My motor is all finished except I have to drill and tap the air temp sensor into the intake manifold. Car has all the glass out and Ill be sanding the whole lot back this weekend. The weekend of the 28th I'll cut out all the rust. Then the weekend after that start painting. So I'm hoping to have this thing ready to start putting back together by the 11th of September. Here's a picture of the motor. Also some fake bride's I bought. I know people say they're shit but honestly I sat in a genuine and these and I can't tell the difference they're carbon fibre and an exact replica. They also came with seat rails and cost me only $600 so I don't care they're not genuine. Also all the welds in the rails have good body and don't look weak. I've seen other copies that the stitching sucks and the writing on the seats are cut off but honestly I can't fault these. Most people looking at them in the car probably wouldn't even notice they aren't genuine.
  25. I hope its stronger than swiss cheese! Turbo man. Will run N/A running it in not taking it over 4000rpm running Castrol RX Super. Its a low ash oil 15W 40 meant for diesel motors but really good for running engines in. I'll dump that at 1000km run for another 4000km then another 5000km then run a synthetic at 10,000kms and push it over 4000rpm. It killed me in my ute having to run it in doing 10,000km's but its worth it in the end to have your motor last longer. I can't wait to see it finished either got a mate coming over Saturday to help out so should get some good progress done.
