  1. Trying to get 14's in 4 x 110 will be hard unless you buy some new ROH Superlite Wheels. I owned this car twice, first time in the late 90's as a stock 3k with the Toyoglide then in about 2003 sporting a shiny red paint job, 5 speed, 7k efi and Sprinter front discs.I gave it a very good cut and buff, re trimmed the interior, added the sunvisor and fender mirrors and the old skool 13" alloys. I could'nt sell it with the 7k so i put a mild 3k back in it.

Funny..i was in Balina only a few days ago!.

  2. My 7k in my KE17 is used for motorsport, standard pistons, rods, crank etc. All balanced and lightened, bigger valves and a port job and fed by twin 40mm Webers, dynoed at 105hp ATW. I only rev it to about 6500 but thats plenty because its all torque in just 800kgs of car. You wont find any off the shelf set of extractors to suit, the pipe diameter is to small for 1800cc, my extractors and system was about $2000, engine build not including accessories $3500 and all running through a K50 5 speed with standard clutch and original KE17 diff with LSD. Apart from cracking the extension housing twice the car has been bullet proof since it was buit 4 years ago. This was a fairly mild rebuid according to my engine builder because i still like to use the car for Motokhanas and car runs with the club. My next 7k will be more aggressive and will also run twin 45mm Webers but will be in a Toyota 700 which is about 120kgs lighter than my KE17 Sprinter.

  3. Bought this at a garage sale only because the bell housing had KE30,KE55 & KE70 marked on it. Definately not a Corolla K50 5 speed the box is seperate from the bell housing, i'm thinking T18. If it is how different would the ratios be from the Corolla K50 box. Thinking of changing the K50 out of my KE17, its cracked 2 extension housings?..., possibly the torque of the 7k.

  4. I've seen pics of Mark Thatchers TE37 car - I was lead to believe that after Bathurst it suffered a roll-over (possibly at Sandown).

Regarding KE25's - it looks like Greville Arnel (yep same one who raced an XD Falcon) competed either a KE25 or possibly a TE27 in Victoria...I have asked him about this once, but am still awaiting the asnwer as to whether it was KE25 or TE27.

I'd be interested to get a photocopy of the story you have.

A few years back i sold Greville Arnel some new old stock KE25 door rubbers and dash top for his KE25 Bathurst car which he still has. He has raced a number of cars at bathurst during the 60's and 70's and i think he still has them all. I have expressed an interest in the KE25 if he was never going to get around to restoring it but to date he still owes it.

That reminds me, i must give him a call.

Also if you remember the replica KE10 race car that was at the Motoring Museum at Bathurst its currently under going a restoration. I had to supply Toyota with a bonnet because the old one was very rusty.

  5. The blue KE10 was just going to be detailed but i ended up pulling it appart to get into all those nooks and crannies. I removed all the bright work & lights, side glass, all the interior and everything from the engine bay except actual engine.I had to replace the front apron because it was bent and i also had the wheels repainted but other than a major detail of all the bits the car is still basically unrestored.post-834-0-74999700-1344142918_thumb.jpgpost-834-0-65070200-1344142957_thumb.jpgpost-834-0-93731100-1344142989_thumb.jpgpost-834-0-59714700-1344143020_thumb.jpg

  7. Nothing wrong with "old school" horse power. My 7K has been in my car for the last 3 years, done plently of race events & daily drives with nothing but regular oil changes. Makes 105hp at the wheels, easy to drive and starts every time ( unless the batterys flat ). No engineering issues, easy to maintain and service and to most people looks just like the original 3k.

I'm not sure how old you are but for the less experienced driver there's enough grunt here to get you into serious trouble. As for the weight thing, my KE17 comes in at 833kg with me in it, 3/4 tank of fuel and a half and a bit cage. My car also is pretty much complete including carpet, heater, seats etc. The only things i've removed is the front bumper for looks and the back section of back seat for the cage fitment.

If you want to do the Beams thing, better in a KE70/AE71.

  8. That silver RT72 in your first post is mine, and yes its also been ages since i was on this Forum. Work, family and other car interests have been taking up much of my time. From the looks of the pics that parts car is an SL, so it should be an 8R 1900, twin SU type carbies, tacho dash, sports type steering wheel, tinted glass, disc front end and possible an LSD in the rear.

Make sure you remove all the stainless trim, tailights, windows and basically whatever you can. They are a very rare breed so any spares you can gather will always help. I actually got mine out of the shed yesterday, it was due for rego and a service. When i checked my records it was 2 and a half yeras since i filled it with fuel and i only travelled about 340 miles in that time. New fuel and a service and she's running fine again.

Looking forward to seing more pics !.

  9. Not sure if i'll be spending my 10K on a KE30 but as the cost of restorations go up the cost of exceptional original cars go up as well. Face it there's is no possible way you can turn a $1000 KE30 into this car for another 9K, to start with it will have been restored no longer original. The real value in old cars is in the original ones, not restored. You can only have original once, you can restore to original but it will forever be restored.

Ok we may all think that his 10k asking price is high, but where's the next KE30 with 1600kms on it for sale. You all may remember my KE36 wagon with the 36,000kms on it that i sold over a year ago for $6500. The good ones can fetch good dollars!.

  10. Are they a 4 spoke sprintmaster?

Car looks very tidy, I didn't see any mention of the dent in the left hand guard, how noticable do you think the paint match will be?

Yep Globe Sprintmasters from the 70's, actually bought the wheels about 12 years ago at a swap meet then found the centre caps on Ebay about 3 years ago. Always knew a car would come along that would suit them !!. As for the dent in the left front guard i'm leaving that one. I'm now only going to do the rust and just replace the stainless trim on the boot with an undamaged one. Just don't want to start painting bits all over the car, i actually like that kinda used worn look, it give the car a bit of character and keeps it more original.

  11. Removed the helper springs in the rear and fitted 1 inch lowering blocks, also removed one of the two leaf springs in the front and presto !!. Also found a matching old and pitted left side rear view mirror. Now just waiting for my disc brakes for the front to turn up, the little rust repairs and most likely a rear venetian in black. Have still to fit the drivers weather shield which came of another car i wrecked.

  12. Purchased this little gem from a fellow Rollaclub member in WA. Its all original and looks to have traveled about 120,000miles. Paint is all original and it still has the original K 1100 motor in it. Seats are already at the trimmer to get repaired ( bottom of the front seats and top of the rear seat ), will give it the big detail this Sunday and then down to the panel shop Monday to have the dent in the boot and rust in the right front guard done. Will update pics and work gets completed.

As i scan a few more i'll post them up!!

  14. Take some advice from some one who does this for a living: if your after a KE10 Corolla for a project and only have a few hundred to a grand to spend, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME & MONEY. Just wait and save till you can get a fairly decent one for around $3000 - $6000. The amount of people i see on this forum who have just bought one and need front guards, a bonnet, bumpers and other bits because they have bought a rusty dented example is wrong. I get for good front guards $300 each and a bonnet can be up to $600, not to mention good doors at $200 and bumpers start at $100. Add all that up and the cost of painting and the time to fit it all up you might as well have just spent $4500 and bought a fairly reasonable one that you can enjoy straight away.

I pay $500 - $1500 to get a car just for a couple of good panels, would never think about restoring it !. Its just not an sound economical decision !!. Your new project just ends up turning into a nightmare and a big money pit that you get sick of and end up selling for about what you paid for it in the beginning even though you've spent plenty on it.

Some of you may think i ask plenty of money for the cars i sell but i don't usually have trouble finding new owners for them. They are very good examples though! Same as i can't believe how many good cars are advertised on this forum that no one buys, the good cars are no longer cheap !.
