Des Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 Hey hey, I need a new radiator for my ke70 to suit my 4agze and i was just thinking most radiators from automatic cars have a transmission oil cooler built into them. What if i used that oil cooler for the engine and not the tranny, would it work or do more harm than good ? Quote
ancullen Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 I don't see why there'd be any issue with it at all. In fact, I'm pretty certain I've heard of other people doing this with other cars. Just make sure you pick the right sort of radiator & oil/transmission cooler and you'll be set. Quote
Des Posted October 30, 2006 Author Report Posted October 30, 2006 I was thinking of a radiator/oil cooler from a vs commodore ? Quote
Des Posted October 30, 2006 Author Report Posted October 30, 2006 This is what I'm thinking, not this excact one cause it fuxord but a new one of the same. Quote
irokin Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 It wont cool as good as an external oil-air cooler. Commodores have both the radiator heat exchanger AND and external core for the transmission. If price is an issue, go rip an old tranny cooler off something at the wreckers. Otherwise you can pickup a B&M oil cooler new for like $140. Quote
lappy Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 thats a v8 one a v6 one is thinner and is alluminium if you were pushed for space i personally would get a seperate one to the radiator Quote
Des Posted October 30, 2006 Author Report Posted October 30, 2006 thats a v8 one a v6 one is thinner and is alluminium if you were pushed for space i personally would get a seperate one to the radiator True it came out of my sisters VS v6. The B&M oil cooler might be the go and i might try and find a radiator from the wreckers as a temporary base. Quote
