Selling Jellybean

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I know....I blame the ADD....

ok, I'm willing to sell Jelly in favor of this....It's just the epitamy of '50s atomic funk

It's been sitting since '76 and has a hole by #5. It has a slant six for now, and a push putton auto

I got it running and was lauging at the crank journal slapping the rod and smacking it into the starter....I will put the 318 into it!

sure in AUSTRALIA they were called a dodge phoenix..

here they were all darts, the dart seneca was the cheap one (biscayne), then the dart pioneer (bel-air) and the dart phoenix (impala).....you know;....regional differences?

there is so much mud and ice and snow,; it will be QUITE a while before we can get out there for sure. Though we are going to try on sunday with a 4wd.

I got very stuck last time I was there

I've been talking to Kristy about what color to paint it and she says; "it doesn't matter what color you paint it; it will always be ugly..."

I think I'm gonna name it "fugly"

I actually got it running under its own power today; I tied the rod to the intake to keep the journal from smacking it, rigged up a gas can tank, and put some aired up tires on it. I discovered the left rear spring has 3 out of 4 leaves broken on it.

I started it up; no oil pressure though it was full of oil, pushed the "reverse" button, and promptly backed it into the '65 bonneville that was parked behind it. Then I pushed the 'drive" button, and drove it onto the pathway where it stopped. I floored it, but all I got was revvs. Getting out; I saw the tires spinning at idle, and I tried to help it, but it was VERY stuck.

By now the Bearings were screeching and screaming for mecy, so I yanked the hot wire and killed it.

It's gonna have to sit there until the thaw....... :P

Did I mention that it's been there since '76?

  • 4 months later...

after a long hiatus; I got some work done on Fugly.

Pulled the dead and otherwise useless slant sick out and spent today cleaning the engine compartment with Castrol Superclean. This stuff will eat paint if left on too long!

I then scrubbed it with a red Scotch Brite pad and cleaned everything well.

I mixed up some Nason Fast-Dry in a Preval sprayer and Viola!

1990 Dodge Van 318 EFI (will run carb for now) and '65 Fury pushbutton 727.

I might have to move to Washington state soon, so it needs to be under it's own power before I leave.

This is the '65 Plymouth FuryI I will use as a donor car. It runs and drives so well, I feel guilty cutting it up.
