Whats Cheaper? - Turbo Or Supercharge?

Hey guys and girls just wanted to know what

would be cheaper to do to my 5k. Turbo or supercharge?

depends on if you want carb or efi, draw thru car setup with a supercharger is most likely your best bet, from there mabey blow thru turbo,

your choises realy are

 

s/c draw thru

s/c blow thru

s/c efi

turbo blow thru

turbo draw thru

turbo efi

 

note you will need a large su carb for draw thru and if its turbo you want it needs to be carbon seal

also you can't run a bov or intercooler with draw thru

it really depends on what sorta deals you can get on various things, whether going going new or 2nd hand stuff, whether you can fab or not etc etc etc

 

i havent had the chance to do either as yet, but i think for ease and cost a J pipe turbo using an EA CFI throttlebody and 2nd hand ECU would be hard to beat

well i was thinking of doing turbo blow thru coz i can get a rebiult t04 for $200. Ive got a 32/36 carb laying round and a compleat 4k.

But how much could i pick up supercharger for.

mate, i think you'll find the TO4 a bit big, and the carb a little small for the task.

 

basic toyota superchargers usually sell in the region or $2-300

hmmmm i think ill go for a blow thru turbo set up.The 5k has been board out 40thou and has extra dished pistions with a shaved and ported head. I shouldnt have any problems with it holding boost should i

depends what head and how much it has been shaved, close to stock compresion should make it fun to drive off boost.

less compression is your friend when i comes to boosting a motor, run close to stock commpression and you should be fine
