replace all the servicable electrics.

you can only adjust the idle mix on the aisins, you will need to check your float levels when you do the carby kit.

doing this and a driving style change saw me drop from 13 to a consistant 8.5 in a ke70 with 4k and extractors. drive like i used to and i can still get it over 10L/100.

and thats lugging my work tools around in the back too.

id say you may have a little vac leak, so old seals in the carb, and some old plugs/points/leads/rotor button.

 

and having just got your license i reckon your probably trying to make the 4k do things it was never meant to.

 

fuel economy has the most to do with your right foot than anything else.

change at 3000 in each gear, and use light throttle to get there. its no race. with dominos hot cell the pizza wont get cold :D

As soon as i started running this as well as my 98 octane i felt a great improvement in the way the car runs. Give it a go, the tabs cost only a couple bucks for a pack of two. All you do is drop one in when you fuel up on an empty tank.

this motor only needs to last me til i finish rebuilding the 4k in the shed which will have a new nikki carby on it and that will be finished by the end of the year so is it worth rebuilding the carb ... i also probably drive it a little hard (5k in 1st and 2nd) and as for the dominos thing we get paid by the delivery so the aim is to get to the door as fast as possible and legal. when i used to drive it coservitively i could get maybe 6-7L to 100km's but now its more like 9-10L to 100km's

Usually get about 400kms out of a tank in my KE70, Probably get more If I had it dyno tuned..

carby kit isnt very expensive, just a few hours of shitting around to do it right.

do what i said and i would be surprised if your economy doesnt improve.

also, how old is the oil in the motor?

did a oil change bout 3 months ago but it eats the oil as well so i'm always filling it up

I'm on about 14-15L per 100. That includes highway, city, and 'enthusiastic' driving. I can get 11s when I'm don the cardigan.

Hey kids, long time no post. Main reason being the rolla's death. Towards the end, water consumption was getting up around 40L per 100km. Hehe. Most of it was consumed in the engine, but quite a bit also wept out of the plug wells. The reason for its eventual DNF was a mixture of about 12to1 water to oil lubricating the engine.

But back in its halcyon days I had a slight fetish for recording fuel consumption. The absolute best I ever saw was 7.7 for one particular tank, dunno what was goin on there. But in my usual SAVAGE VEHICLE RAPING!!!!! pizza delivery mode 10.5 was the norm. Making a 1.2L motor pushing 900kg chew through more of the stuff than my mum did in a VS made me a bit sad.

got me a 5 speed so hopefully that will help
