andro0o Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 can someone please explain the difference between an 8kg whiteline spring and 8kg king spring and an 8kg pedders spring and an 8kg trd spring..? a spring is a spring.. as i posted somewhere else but thought i should start a new thread, so someone care to eleborate please..? am i right or wrong..? I'm curious for both front and rear, i have coilovers made from a commodore strut (so i can always use a bigger shock if needed) bilstein adjustables and a king coilover spring, are the coilovers being let down cause I'm not brand whoring and going cheap on the spring.. or is a spring jsut a spring? any info would be great thanks. tas_ae71 Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 yes and no, diffrent springs can have a diffrent coiling this kind of efects have it bumps. there are also progressive springs that have a finer coiling at one end a become more spaced at one end. Quote
Raven Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 ^ what he said habib. Progressive rate springs react differently to the bumps more-so than your standard spring. Quote
tas_ae71 Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 also diffrent brands may have diffrent hights that they some at.. so if you have to cut them to a lower hight this will effect the rate slightly and also its stroke. stiff short springs have not alot of travel, stock suspension has much more travel than is needed, this is also something to keep in mind when buying springs. the more expensive brands tend to use better quality materials and test/xray and crap but i have never seen a spring that has failed due to manufactoring falts. styler Posted July 30, 2007 Report Posted July 30, 2007 progressive and linear are the two different types. Quote
