August 25, 200719 yr comment_193775 hi guys just wondering, i've done a bit of a search but to no avail have i found out what kind of replacement shocks i can use for the front instead of the standard ae71 front monroe gt gas shocks as with my suspension being low king springs & then being chopped 2 coils all round, i'm after any suggestions of a different type ie: rear shocks you can replace with suzuki sierra front shocks....... would anyone happen to know what kind i'd be able to use to stop my front end from bouncing around that little bit to much???? cheers tom Report
August 25, 200719 yr comment_193776 Gday Tom. Most people toss the standard struts in favour of the fatter AE86 ones. This allows you a far broader choice of shock insert, as the whole ae86 aftermarket opens up to you. Also, you can get sw20 mr2, camry, or celica inserts in place of the standards as a shorter stroke option. If you keep the standard struts you can generally only find monroes and gabriels and the like, nothing too special, but fine for most people. I have no idea about short stroke options with standard struts. It really is worth the switch to AE86 struts as they have bigger rotors and pad area, thicker stiffer struts, and more spares available. The braking improvement is dramatic. AE86 struts will bolt up fine if you use ae86 struts, and AE86 steering arms, while utilizing the ae71 strut tops. Report
August 26, 200719 yr comment_193798 Its bouncing because you chopped the springs... it won't matter what shocks you use. If you're going to leave it like that... just use standard inserts. Whatever you use will be flogged out in 6 months so don't waste your cash on decent shocks. Report
