  1. Looking the goods luke :lolcry: Did matty end up doing your seats for you again?? Any plans for something a little more powerful than a 4k in the distant future?? Tom
  2. Hey mate, Did you happen to have fan shroud on at all before this happened & perhaps left it off?? I had to replace my alternator not to long ago, so i took my fan shroud off & left it off. I replaced my alternator & then after all that, i noticed my temp gauge was getting a bit higher than what it normally did while i was driving. & even higher when i pulled up at lights. I then done a radiator flush, replaced the thermostat with a new one & new gasket & in the end it still kept heating up. My other half told me "maybe you should put the plastic thingy back where it was". Well what would you know, when i could actually be bothered & did have some free time i put it back on & haven't had any drama's since. But don't let her know she was right lol Hope you get it sorted out soon mate. :bash:
  3. That's fair enough. N cheers for the comments guys but it's now been sold. So can someone please close this thread. thanks everyone for reading. Tom
  4. Well here's a little bit of an update. The car is up for sale, complete car + smallport 4age loom & ecu & might be sold as it stands atm, but for the buyer to be interested the car had to be complete. But if anyone is keen at all pm me & i'll discuss details with you about the sale. So here's a couple of pics of what it looks like now. Cheers Guys.
  5. Not necessarily mate, if you want you could hook the electric fuel pump from ignition into a missile switch, then onto the fuel pump that way you can stop it pumping anytime & it acts as a kill switch also. If you do manage to get an electrical fuel pump, don't forget to get a fuel pressure regulator so you don't flood the engine :hammer:
  6. Yeah man export ftw! Super cheap has them on sale......3 cans for $7.99 so its not to bad. I sanded the roof today, only got to it with 80 grit on the orby but its a start. Hopefully should have the body all painted (primer & colour, minus the clear coat) by next monday seen as friday & monday are holidays  Also my girlfriends younger brother noticed today a little chip in my windscreen that turned into a nice big crack :y: so it's just thing to add to the slow process. Anyways thats about it for now seen as the weekends over :y:
  7. Cheers mate, It's just export spray can paint from super cheap called ocean blue. Strangely enough the colour of the lid on the can is like a navy blue but as you can see it's alot lighter than navy :y: i was planning on leaving the car in primer until a friend of mine said that primer isn't the best for a car as it holds the little bits of water in allowing it to help rusting or what not. Can anyone confirm that for us?? So with that in mind i went into the shed this afternoon & seen that i had a couple of ocean blue spray cans laying around so i thought "why the hell not" lol I'm not a pro at painting what so ever & cannot afford a decent paint job just yet, but this will do in the meantime & will slow down the rusting process for now. The cars spec's as it sits at the moment is: 84 Ae71, 5 speed manual, 4ac with weber carby & a single drift pipe out the rear, Locked diff, 86 struts in the front with chopped pedders spring's (unknown shocks), Cut falcon springs in the rear with sierra shocks, Sitting on an unknown pair of 14 x 6" 5 spokes up front (i have 6 wheels this style in total) & a pair of low offset 13" hotwires with a bit of stretch on the rear. Inside isn't anything to special so it's not worthy of any photos just yet, but left over from previous project in the shed i have: Front strut brace (painted orange), Pair of Driftbitz bucket seats on xe7x rails (ready to bolt in), mx83 lower control arms, Brand new pink dildo gear knob, 4 x 52mm gauges with 7 different backlight colours (water temp, oil temp, oil pressure & boost) 3 & 3/4" matrix tacho (brand new with 7 different backlight colours to) Brand new pioneer cd player (with ipod connector) Car alarm & keyless entry, My 15" meshies that are on the yellow 70 atm & also the smallport  . Thats bout it for now but will keep everyone updated. Cheers Tom
  8. lol yeah man i would love to have a cruise with ya before you sell yours, but i won't have the funds for a long time to get a 4agte in it, let alone it be registered on the road lol any idea how much the electricians gonna sting ya for the work??? A honda city?? whats with the little buzz box's lol
  9. Sux to hear thats its taken a while to try get it to spark & now it's off to the auto electricians, but hopefully you get a few little drives before you sell it off man. Are you definately going to get a 70 wagon next or whats the plans man??
  10. Lol yeah andrew thats what i've been looking into because its alot more along the lines of what i've always wanted. I've just gotta see when the time comes & how much cash is floating around as to what i can hopefully get :bash:
  11. Thanks mate, & yeah its coming along slowly.........It sux when the compressor i have doesn't have quite enough power to keep the orbital sander at full speed :bash: But yeah, all that is left to sand & paint is the bonnet, roof, boot & to pull apart 3 doors & primer them. So it's not going to badly considering i been crook with the flu for the last 3 days :S I've still got to figure out what i'm going to do motor wise, as i've still got the smallport 4age, loom & ecu, but as i found out last time round was that my old smallport ran out of power in the end. So i'm leaning either towards a 20v or a later model 4agze converted to turbo or just to rebuild the smallport that i have with the stronger internals to handle a turbo strapped onto it :y: Anyways thats about it for now lols Cheers
  12. Ok here's a couple more photo's, before & after of the progress from yesterday. Cheers
  13. Yeah i can't believe i sold it either. Back in the day when i first met my partner i had a satin black 71 with a smallport 4age & it used to go really well for a stock smallport, i have missed it ever sinced i had sold it, so i guess thats why when the opportunity come up i was like "why the hell not" lol & this time seeing as i'm doing my tafe course to become an apprentice mechanic i would like to rebuild the little sucker & whack a turbo onto it so i can have that extra little bit of power to play with :) So hopefully it will all be going to plan soon enough! At the moment i'm sanding it & just pressure packing it in the primer just so i can get it all back together & sorted out. Cheers for the kind words.
  14. ok here's a couple of little pictures....It's going slowly but it'll get there eventually lols Cheers guys
  15. Alrighty........Update is, well i have swapped the orange ke70 with my girlfriends younger brother for his half sanded ae71 with a smallport 4age, loom & ecu. Today i had off & started to finish off sanding & painting some panels in primer. Will update some pics when i get a chance but it's the half black 1 in the photo with 3 rolla's in it :(. But as of today the orange rolla has gotten a rwc & will be on the road next week. I know i said the orange ke70 was going to be my last rolla, but well technically it still is my last 1 because i didn't sell it then buy another 1. I just swapped for it lol Anyways thats about it for now & i'll post up some pics of my progress soon. Tom
  16. Hey mate, you could try by putting a bit of timber in it for now, just a small board but i'd head to a wreckers and pick up another seat swab as they're known. You can pick them up out of the ke70's, ae71's & also ae82's & maybe more but that's just off the top of my head. Then just swap them over & you should be all sweet. Hope it helps you out mate. Tom
  17. Alright, not a whole lot happening as i've been a bit busy. Tomorrow i'm off to pick up a rear passenger window winder mechanism, front & rear bars from a fellow rollaclub member & hopefully start cleaning up my interior to get it ready & on the road when the bonus comes through in a couple of weeks. I had a strut brace left over from my old project so i tidied up the rust on it & gave it a nice few coats of paint to suit the car :lolcry: Also going to sand & paint my rocker cover in orange over the next few days to suit the brace aswell.
  18. Hey mate, If the charge light doesn't come on then you should also check that the bulb behind it isn't blown, but with that being said the same thing happened with mine except my alternator was in good working order but it just wasn't wired in to suit it. Maybe just try a quick wiring test to make sure it's all wired in properly. Like test to see if you have power going to the yellow wire that heads into the plug nearest the battery charge light. & also with what wires are going to the alternator 2. Although if it was charging before & isn't now then best bet would be alternator needs reconditioning or replacing. Good luck mate. Tom
  19. Ok after a few days of frustration with my alternator not charging, i had found out from an auto electrical teacher at tafe, that i have a vn/vp commodore alternator on there & didn't realise an injector like plug that was missing :D so of course it wasn't wired in properly even though i thought it was lol Now all thats left to do in the engine bay now is to set the ignition timing & she should be running like a dream . Also picked up a little something from banzai this afternoon :D Enjoy guys lol Tom
  20. Ok guys, i took it with me to tafe yesterday & our auto electrical teacher looked at it straight up & told me it was an alternator from a vn/vp commodore & there is an injection like plug that plugs into the top of the alternator. So $12 & half an hour later with a brand new injector plug in hand, i had rewired it into the charge light & hooked up 2 other wires & she is all good and charging at around 14 volts  Cheers for your help & advice guys. Tom
  21. thanks mate lol & yeh i wish they were all mine :D but unfortunately only the orange one is mine :| & Yeh luke my mate josh came round & got it off you not to long ago. It's actually quite a nice wheel to drive with aye, & the car definately sticks out, we got so many looks while driving it home the other day :) Tom
  22. Cheers for the replies. I went & took it off the car before so i have it ready to take to tafe with me tomorrow & i'm going to see if any of my teachers can help with telling if its stuffed or not. Failing that i'll be popping into an auto electricians workshop on the way home & hopefully someone can let me know. But i will keep this updated to slet you all know what happens. Cheers again guys. Tom
